This client specifically wanted to avoid a surface coating and keep direct contact with the natural concrete. A penetrating sealer was the perfect solution, protecting the concrete from within while preserving its authentic feel and appearance.

The result? Water beads on the surface, helping protect the concrete from stains, while the natural texture remains unchanged underfoot.

Not every project needs a glossy coating—sometimes the best finish is the one you can barely see.

Sometimes you don’t need a full resurfacing.

This old stencil concrete had an old coloured hardener that was faded and worn, but the homeowner wasn’t ready for a complete makeover.

Instead, we applied Dulux Avista Coloured Sealer—and what a transformation.

One of the questions we often get asked is how many coats do we spray.

The answer is that every project is different.

As a general rule, I prefer applying two lighter coats rather than one heavy coat. A hopper gun behaves very differently from an airless sprayer. It’s less precise, making it much easier to overload the surface if you’re not careful.

As taught during my Dulux Avista training, we generally spray at relatively low pressure. This allows us to build a consistent texture rather than applying a thin mist. That said, every project is assessed individually.

For pool areas, we’ll often use a smaller nozzle to create a finer texture that’s comfortable underfoot while still achieving a P5 slip rating.

For driveways, we’ll often use two different nozzle sizes. The first creates a coarser texture for durability and long-term traction, while the second refines the finish to give the surface a more uniform appearance.

There isn’t one “correct” way to spray resurfacing compound. The right technique depends on how the surface will be used, which is why we adapt our application to suit every project.

Last week we undertook a joint venture with Laid To Perfection Flooring. The home owner had been ghosted by a grinding company and what a mistake! Joji gets a 5 star review as a client, she fed us, she offered us some delicious refreshments and was ever so kind all@the way through.
We provided her with a honed finish all around her house with anti slip additive to make sure no one slips and falls.

Another one of our classics grind and resurface job.
The biggest difficulty is to dodge the rain for the areas that aren’t sheltered. We are ready for sunny days to start lining up now.
