She’s 110+years old, and for her age, she comes up pretty bloody honest.

This beautiful little Queenslander — weatherboards, VJ walls and high ceilings, surrounded by an incredible garden — taught me more lessons than I can count.

This one took us far longer than it should have. In business, there’s a point where the time allowed for a job runs out, but the work in front of you doesn’t. A lot of hours went into this place that could never really be accounted for, and more than a few nights at home were sacrificed trying to get her where she needed to be.

I also completely understand Mitch and Rosie’s frustration with how long it took. They were incredibly patient with a job that went well beyond the timeframe we originally expected, and that deserves to be acknowledged.

There were plenty of times we had to decide what simply wasn’t achievable and take ideas off the table, while still refusing to compromise on the things that mattered.

It wasn’t the easiest job, and definitely wasn’t the most profitable one — but it might have been one of the most valuable.

Because some jobs pay you in money.

Others pay you in lessons.

And this old girl gave me more than I can count.

110+ years old, and she still holds her own.
