PLANTATION CLOSURES - ALL OF QUEENSLAND

All HQP-managed forests in Queensland have been closed to the public until further notice due to more than 40 fires and 30 arson attacks across the plantation estate since the start of fire season. Conditions are extremely dry and it is very hard to extinguish fires once they start.

The closure applies to walkers, horse riders, cyclists, motor bike riders and all drivers, however there are some exceptions for events with current permits (please contact us). State and local govt thoroughfares remain open, as well as access to QPWS parks and campgrounds unless otherwise indicated.

We are seeking your support to not only comply with the closure but to also report suspicious behaviour and unattended fires to 000, Policelink 131 444 or Crime Stoppers Queensland

Plantation closures in fire danger weather reduce the total number of fires HQP has to manage, which not only protects neighbouring communities and forests that are valued by recreation users but also the important wood resource that supplies structural timber for local home and business construction.
