October is Small Business Month — a good moment to look at what’s happening now, and what’s coming next.
📅 28 October — September quarter BAS
If you lodge your own quarterly BAS, this is the standard due date. Now’s the time to make sure the quarter is reconciled, the paperwork is there and anything missing has been chased down.
💡 NSW Small Business Month
There are free and low-cost events throughout October covering cash flow, business finance, AI, cyber security, marketing, managing people and more.
Rather than trying to learn everything, choose something that connects with where you want your business to go next.

🎄 December is closer than it looks
If your business slows down or closes over Christmas, October is a good time to look ahead.
What still needs to be paid while revenue slows? Wages, leave, rent, subscriptions and suppliers — plus the January commitments waiting on the other side.
A little planning now can make December feel very different.
And if you’re a VA, coach or consultant supporting other businesses, these are useful conversations to bring to your clients too.
Is their BAS information ready?
Is there a Small Business Month session that fits something they’re working towards?
Have they started thinking about their Christmas cash flow?
Sometimes adding value is simply putting the right question on the table at the right time.
And if one of those questions has you thinking about your own business, you’re always welcome to start a conversation with me.
