What an incredible night!

On Friday night, Solar Shine Australia was announced as the WINNER of the Solar category at the 2026 Macarthur Business Awards! ☀️

This one is particularly special to us.

This solar panel has definitely seen better days… 😬☀️

During an inspection, our team came across this smashed solar panel.

While the system may still appear to be operating, physical damage like this shouldn’t be ignored. Cracked glass can allow moisture to enter the module, compromise its electrical insulation and potentially lead to further deterioration over time.

It’s also a great example of why physically inspecting a solar system matters.
An inverter can tell you a lot about how a system is performing — but it can’t always tell you what’s happening up on the roof.

Regular inspections help identify damaged panels and other issues before they’re left to become bigger problems.

Solar isn’t set and forget.

Now THAT is a before and after! ☀️🧼

These solar panels had some serious lichen growth across the surface — and as you can see, it doesn’t just wipe away with a bit of rain.

Lichen can attach itself firmly to the glass and continue spreading if it’s left untreated. Apart from looking terrible, this kind of build-up can obstruct sunlight reaching the solar cells and create areas of persistent shading.

With the right treatment and cleaning process, the difference speaks for itself. 👌
Solar panels are an investment designed to last for decades. Looking after them along the way matters.

☀️ Solar doesn’t stop at installation.

As more solar systems are installed across Australia, there’s an increasingly important question our industry needs to address — how do we look after these assets for the next 10, 15 and 20+ years?

At All Energy Australia Exhibition & Conference this month, our Founder & Managing Director, Andrew Barrington, will be chairing a session dedicated to exactly that.

Maximising Solar Asset Performance – Maintenance, Monitoring & Stewardship will bring together industry voices from across solar cleaning, maintenance, monitoring and bird proofing to discuss what good solar asset stewardship actually looks like.

Andrew will be joined by Daniel Lazarus ( Industrias Services), Joel Firth ( Brighter Solar Cleaning ), John Johnston ( Spartan Solar Farm Cleaning AU ) and Diana Latorre Espinosa ( VEXO ) for what should be a great discussion about protecting performance, identifying issues early and extending the operational life of solar assets.

This is what can happen when birds move in under your solar panels. 🐦☀️

The panels provide a sheltered, protected space for nesting — but unfortunately, the entire roof can end up looking like this.

Bird droppings, nesting material and debris have accumulated all around this solar array, creating a significant mess and an ongoing maintenance problem for the homeowner.

And simply cleaning it isn't enough.

If the birds still have access underneath the panels, they'll come straight back and the cycle starts again.

That's why our bird-proofing process involves removing the nesting material and debris, cleaning the affected area and installing purpose-designed mesh around the perimeter of the array to prevent birds from getting back underneath.

Clean them out. Keep them out. Protect your solar.

📩 Contact Solar Shine Australia if birds have decided your solar panels are their new home.

This panel was perfectly fine when we were here 6 months ago. 👀

We clean and inspect the solar panels at this apartment complex every six months.

When we returned for the latest service, we found this smashed panel.

Because we're regularly maintaining the system, we know it wasn't damaged during our previous visit — meaning something has happened in the six months since.

And that's one of the big benefits of regular solar maintenance.

It's not just about getting the dirt off the panels. Every visit is another opportunity to physically look over the system and identify changes, damage or developing issues that might otherwise go unnoticed.

On a large apartment complex, nobody is regularly walking past these panels to see what's happening.

Sometimes you simply need someone on the roof looking. 🔍☀️

Sometimes, as a business owner, you get a review that you simply can't let slide.

This 1-star review had nothing to do with the quality of our work, our pricing or the service we provided.

The complaint was that one of our team members has an accent.

Our staff come from different backgrounds, and we are incredibly proud of the people who represent Solar Shine Australia. Someone speaking English with an accent does not make them less intelligent, less capable or less deserving of respect.

Australia is one of the most multicultural countries in the world. Judging someone negatively simply because they don't sound like you is something we have absolutely no time for.

We'll happily take the 1-star review.

Backing our staff is worth far more than protecting a 5-star rating.

To our team: we've got your back. Always. ❤️☀️
