There is something about freestanding shelving units that is just timeless, from having your collection of books to displaying sentimental objects, memories, pictures and vessels. It can be easily moved around to create new backdrops in your home and set a mood based on your imagination.

Anton shelving unit is all that and more. Anton features a unique silhouette and slightly angled supporting legs, creating an optical illusion where the shelves appear to be longer toward the top of the piece, making this shelving unit a statement piece on its own.

Balancing a piece of furniture when it comes to exposed joinery, size and ergonomics is something I've been learning along my furniture-making journey. And It's one of those things I believe I will keep learning and improving forever.

Layla dining table beautifully represents where I'm currently standing as a maker. Choosing soft curves over sharp edges and corners. Rather than hiding joints where components meet, I embraced them by intentionally exposing joinery.

There is a difference between buying a table from big box store and having someone else make you one from scratch with love and care and reasons above, might just be it.

I still remember the very first coffee table I made for myself when I first got into trade, it was square pine box painted white with reclaimed decking on top acting as a lid for a storage underneath I think I made it in one day and was absolutely stoked about it. A lot things changed since then, my love for creating objects with my hands and thinking more about aesthetics has evolved. Rather than making a square box in one day I find satisfaction in more complex pieces and forms where slowing down the process is intentional to ensure each step is done correctly.

Can you even call yourself a furniture maker if you don't have a workshop dog?

Pepper takes her guarding duties seriously. Watching the road and carpark ready to welcome every customer and delivery driver with her bark.

We are halfway through the year now ( I know, I can't believe I'm saying that). If you have a custom project in mind that you would like to get underway or if you are interested in a piece from the collection. Feel free to stop by the workshop for a chat, to say hi to Pepper, and see some finished pieces and samples. Alternatively, you can always reach me through my email:

Anatomy of The O.G. Stool.

1. Overall look, shape and angles on each side.

2. Mortise and tenon joinery for maximum strength.

3. Seat shape detail - hand shaped bevell on the edge of the seat for maximum comfort when sitting over long periods of time. Also, bridle joint detail.

4. By creating two footrests at varied heights, this stool really gained the capability to be comfortable for anyone. By simply rotating a stool you can choose which side feels better for your body. This comes in handy especially if you have kids at home. Also pictured brass dowel detail.

There are a lot of hours that go into these stools from selecting the right materials, cutting joinery, turning components round, shaping, sanding, oiling and enjoying the reward of seeing the beauty of grain after the first coat. There is consideration of details and how the stool feels when you sit on it.
I was never the best at sketching and drawing and it would definitely be much faster and more comfortable to create these images using AI but because of the reasons above, I felt it would almost diminish the whole point of why we still use our own hands, minds and hearts to create. On top of that using watercolours for the first time since I was a kid was very enjoyable.

Dining table for a local client in Mullumbimby in solid Walnut with a stainless steel inlay.
I've been asked to make a table that will have a connection to the existing coffee table in the client's house. It had to be a very chunky yet sleek looking table this has been achieved by making the finished top 45 mm thick. Large bullnose on the bottom edge and microbevelle across the top edge.

Another crucial part of the build was to recess legs into the top, this had to be done perfectly, to ensure a tight fit. Stainless steel inlay is a nod to existing stainless steel coffee table and I feel it really softens the overall look of this table.

Very happy how this one came out and I would be very keen to do another one of those.

A local client has commissioned this large custom coffee table in solid American Walnut with a stone heart.
One of the requirements I had to meet was creating a bevelled lip with a large bullnose edge beneath and mitred corners. The bevelled lip had to be cut and laminated first, which meant I had to use a hand plane and slowly shape the bullnose by hand, as a router wouldn't be able to do it at that point. Fair to say this was a very satisfactory task and I'm very happy with how this piece turned out. How amazing is that stone from .official_ paired with Walnut?!

It's my Birthday today and my only wish this year is to give a gift to one lucky person here.

The gift I've decided to giveaway is Harbord coffee table in American Oak and yes it can be shipped anywhere in Australia*πŸ™ŒπŸΌ.

Rules are simple:
1. Tag a friend you would love to celebrate your birthday with ( you can do multiple entries).
2. Make sure you and your friend both follow
3. Share this to your story.

Winner will be announced on Sunday 10th of May.

Harbord got it’s name as a tribute to the location of my old workshop where the idea was born and it was the very last piece of furniture designed in that space.

Round top with legs protruding through, creating beautiful detail where 2 grain orientation meet.

A beautiful mix of traditional hand-cut joinery with plenty of details to adore. Harbord is the focal point to any living room inviting family and friends to sit around and enjoy conversation.

*Shipping cost is not included in a giveaway.
