Dining table for a local client in Mullumbimby in solid Walnut with a stainless steel inlay.
I've been asked to make a table that will have a connection to the existing coffee table in the client's house. It had to be a very chunky yet sleek looking table this has been achieved by making the finished top 45 mm thick. Large bullnose on the bottom edge and microbevelle across the top edge.

Another crucial part of the build was to recess legs into the top, this had to be done perfectly, to ensure a tight fit. Stainless steel inlay is a nod to existing stainless steel coffee table and I feel it really softens the overall look of this table.

Very happy how this one came out and I would be very keen to do another one of those.

A local client has commissioned this large custom coffee table in solid American Walnut with a stone heart.
One of the requirements I had to meet was creating a bevelled lip with a large bullnose edge beneath and mitred corners. The bevelled lip had to be cut and laminated first, which meant I had to use a hand plane and slowly shape the bullnose by hand, as a router wouldn't be able to do it at that point. Fair to say this was a very satisfactory task and I'm very happy with how this piece turned out. How amazing is that stone from .official_ paired with Walnut?!

I hope that wherever you are, you are enjoying this holiday season with your loved ones.
2025 has been an incredible year for The Wood Lab, and I can't thank all the suppliers, customers, photographers, friends, my partner, and my family enough for making it happen.

I've been privileged to work on some beautiful pieces and even found some time to design another dining table for the collection.

Looking forward to tackling 2026 with some incredible projects already in the lineup and new exciting collaborations.

There is something about that contrast between Walnut and Oak that I adore. But don't worry, the Harbord coffee table can also be made from a single timber species. One in Walnut and one in American Oak are currently underway in the workshop and I can't wait to see them finished.

Dining set for .byronbay . Pill shape table with round legs in American Oak alongside the bench seat with storage, because there is never enough of that. Upholstery provided by talented Kim from .

The pill shape table is always a great choice, and it's clearly becoming one of the more popular shapes for dining tables. Due to the sliding glass doors at each end of the bench, we decided to go with curves to remove any sharp corners when walking past it. This curve has been referenced from the dining table itself, so everything matches together nicely.

A little bit about our latest piece commissioned by for
At 3.5m x 1.2m in solid American Oak from and finished in hardwax oil from will truly be a standout piece in the room. Multiple "hidden doors in the pedestal base to access power points in the ground with a hatch on top of the table to access the cable management box.

In the video, I also discuss how tables like this can be adjusted to meet more residential needs with hidden storage for your plates and other dinnerware you might want to keep close by when guests arrive.
