2024 has presented significant personal challenges and unparalleled trauma for our family.
The year began with the loss of an unborn baby girl, and life-threatening medical emergency as a result of a blood clot followed by massive haemorrhage in March.
Matt was forced to watch helplessly as doctors performed multiple revivals, and blood transfusions whilst trying to stop me from bleeding out, and all whilst knowing we had lost our baby.
My mental and physical health declined dramatically and I put on 18kgs as I physically healed over the coming months, which only added to the increasing depression I was feeling.
Seeing Matt suffer mentally and knowing I couldn’t give him the support he needed emotionally, combined with the guilt of feeling I had failed my husband, my children and as a mother, to carry & deliver our unborn child, it has been a devastating & debilitating few months.
Nevertheless, 8 weeks ago I decided I was walking again this year, for the October 1 Foot Forward Mental Health Fundraiser, but this year, I am walking for me.
As of today I’m 8kgs down, at the halfway mark of my 100K goal and at 50% of my $500 fundraising target.
This isn’t the end of the journey but I’m
Walking one step at a time.
