🎬 Our first timelapse… and a little lawn TLC! 🌱💚

We have been wanting to give timelapse videos a go for a while and today we finally did it! A little phone footage to start, followed by our new equipment… so bear with us while we get the hang of it! 😂📸

Today's job was all about giving an already beautiful garden's lawn a little extra love.

Rather than ripping everything up and starting again with fresh turf, we decided to give the existing grass a chance to bounce back with a good top dress. 🌿

First we gave the lawn several careful cuts, gradually bringing the height right down without unnecessarily stressing or damaging the grass. Then we spread a quality soil blend across the surface to help encourage healthy new growth. 🌱

And did we mention the heat? 🥵☀️ Let's just say there were plenty of water breaks throughout the day! Unfortunately, the timelapse makes it look a whole lot quicker and easier than it actually was. 😂

Now comes the important part… watering, patience and letting the grass do its thing! 💦🌱

It might not look like much just yet but we are excited to see how this lawn responds over the coming weeks.

And as for our first timelapse? Well, we are pretty chuffed with ourselves! 😂🎥

Watch this space… both for the lawn AND our filming skills! 💚

Friday maintenance mode: ACTIVATED! 🌿💪

Today’s all about the mow, edge, blow and go… with a few little garden tidy-ups thrown in for good measure! 🌱

No major transformations today, just the regular TLC that keeps our clients’ gardens looking fresh, neat and ready for the weekend. ☀️

Because sometimes it’s the little things that make the biggest difference!

Happy Friday, everyone! 💚

Well… apparently posting about forgetting to take the after photos worked. 😂📸

This time, we actually remembered!

We spent the day at a client’s property getting the yard ready for their new pool. The area was surrounded by Lilly Pillies that had seen better days — disease, stink bugs and all — so the plan was to remove them, along with another large tree that was starting to loom a little too close to the roof. 🌳🪚

But this job was about a little more than just clearing trees.

It was also a great learning day for Brayden and me, with Steve taking the time to teach us how to safely bring the trees down in a pretty tight space — keeping them exactly where we wanted them and, more importantly, out of the neighbour’s yard and off everyone’s roofs! 😅😂

And speaking of the neighbour… he popped over during the day very happy to see his view making a comeback! 😂🌿 A quick chat over the fence and it looks like we may be heading next door to give his place a little love too. We always love when one job leads to meeting another lovely local.

Because it’s school holidays, Charlii came along for the ride too, helping drag branches to the tipper AND taking over some of the filming duties… which may explain why we finally have some decent footage of the whole crew actually working! 😂📸

One of the things I love about being a family business is days like this. We’re not just getting the job done — we’re learning from each other, passing skills on and getting the kids involved along the way. 💚

A big day of cutting, hauling, learning and probably more stink bugs than any of us wanted… but the yard is now cleared and ready for the next exciting stage — the pool! 🌿🏊

And yes… we got the after photos. 🙌😂

28/09/2026

We have been a little quiet on socials lately… but definitely NOT quiet on site! 😂🌿

Turns out remembering to take the before photos is the easy part. Remembering to stop when the job’s finished, clean ourselves up and actually take the after photos? Apparently not our strong point. 🤦‍♀️😂

So while we may not have many perfectly polished before-and-afters to share right now, we’ve certainly been busy — mowing, digging, planting, building, clearing, transforming and generally getting stuck into gardens all over the place. 💪🌱

Here’s a little glimpse of what we’ve been up to behind the scenes over the past couple of weeks.

Less posting. More working. Plenty happening. 💚🌿

Sometimes a beautiful garden doesn't need a transformation… it just needs a little zhuzhing. 🌿✨

This stunning home already had a garden that complemented its architecture beautifully but over time things had become a little overgrown and the lawn was struggling with excess moisture and water.

So rather than changing what already worked, we focused on making it work even better.

We installed drainage to help manage the excess water, re-turfed the lawn, cleared and refined the existing garden beds, introduced some fresh planting and added simple edging around the garden and beneath the seat to give everything a clean, finished look. 🌱

The result is still very much the garden it was always meant to be.. just fresher, healthier and ready to be enjoyed again. 💚

This video is only the backyard.. we also worked our way through the front and other areas of the property but there was just something about this backyard transformation that deserved its own moment. 😍🌿

2+ tonnes of soil... a whole lot of hard work and more rain than we ordered! 😂🌧️

This backyard paving job definitely didn't go exactly to plan but we weren't going to let a bit of Sunshine Coast weather stop us.

We dug out over 2 tonnes of soil to create the new paved area, battled a couple of delays along the way and finally got it finished.

And looking at the end result… it was definitely worth the muddy boots! 👌

Our clients are thrilled and that's what makes all the hard work worthwhile. 🌿🧱💚

🌿 One of the very first people to put their trust in Steve Avey Gardens... and one very special one! 💚

We were so excited to receive this beautiful review from a client who trusted us with her garden right from the beginning. What started as one project has turned into several jobs with more still to come and we are so incredibly grateful for the continued trust.

Seeing the transformation from before to after is pretty special but knowing our clients are happy with the work we do means even more.

Thank you for supporting our little family business and letting us do what we love. 🌱

Sunday start! 🌿☀️

Up early this morning to pick up some fresh plants and get a little Sunday work done on a garden that needs some drainage work before we return for the next stage.

While Sundays are usually a day for the family, sometimes the job calls for it.. especially when we are working around the weather, scheduling and what the garden needs. 🌱

A little Sunday effort now means we can keep the next stage of the project moving along when we return. 💪🌿

Now… back to Sunday mode! 😂

🌴 Meet the Pandanus that looks beautiful from a distance… and bites back up close! 😂

Did you know Pandanus is also known as the Screw Pine thanks to the spiral arrangement of its leaves? 🌿

Those unusual roots around the base are called prop roots, helping support and anchor the tree. And those beautiful tropical-looking leaves? Yep… they are every bit as sharp as they look! 😅

I had the job of getting in amongst the tree to trim and dig out years of old growth that had become wedged between the roots and trunk. Let's just say the Pandanus definitely won that round of the battle and I now understand why Steve was quite happy to work out the back away from this beauty! 🌿🩹😂

However, Steve did carefully remove a large branch that had started reaching towards the public walkway. With pedestrians, especially children, using the path, removing the potential hazard was an important part of giving this beautiful tree a safer, cleaner shape.

And here's another cool fact… Pandanus has been used traditionally for food, weaving and other practical purposes, with different species producing distinctive pineapple-like fruit. 🌴

A pretty fascinating tree when you stop and look a little closer… even if it does fight back! 😂🌿

From overgrown to blank canvas! 🌿➡️✨

Stage One of this backyard transformation is DONE!

We cleared the overgrowth, removed unwanted plants and opened up the entire space, giving this backyard a fresh start and a much better foundation for what’s to come.

And we are nowhere near finished yet! 👀

Next up: fresh planting and a brand-new lawn with proper drainage. 🌱

The best transformations take a little time… and we can't wait to show you what this one becomes! 💚
