Lily's Garden
Lily's Garden came to life following the death of our beautiful, almost four-month-old darling girl, Lily.

It has grown and expanded since her passing in July 2022

Although I won't be able to see Lily and the five babies I miscarried during my pregnancy journey grow up, I can watch the garden grow and thrive in their honour. Her garden has been instrumental in my healing and has provided me with much solace. It has become an outlet for my grief and a beacon of light shining through on the darkest days. Sharing Lily's garden brings me much joy and happiness.

A gardener can never have too many wheelbarrows.

I spotted this last month at the tip shop and didn't buy it, kicked myself later for not buying it.

When for a perusal today and to my surprise was still there 😲

Only $30 almost brand new and has a solid rubber tyre. Brand new they are worth $120.

Absolute bargain.

It doesn't hurt to ask.

Popped into my favourite nursery today and they had these white chrysanthemums on sale. On the way in they had these beautiful Lilac ones, I wasn't going to buy them at that price.

I had to get a couple replacement plants and some strawberry seedling punnets. At the checkout I asked whether the purple ones were at the same price as the white ones on sale. The lovely assistance rang through to management. Unfortunately they weren't on sale but they could sell me two for the price of one. Absolute bargain 😁

Please support your local nurseries when you can. I have witness three nurseries over the past two years shut their doors.

June is way too chilly for butterflies this will be the last one we see for the season 🦋

Glimmers from Lily today. A beautiful butterfly with the same pattern was waiting on the car when I returned from swimming lessons. It was too fast to capture.

This afternoon the same type of butterfly was amongst Lilys garden.

It's nice to feel that she is close to us.

Beautiful sunny day out picking more pods. I always love it when you take the back off and there appears to be heaps of seeds.

Still eyeing off the gorgeous big pods, hoping the weather holds so they can ripen. The ones on the tall plant is Coorabell Amy and that would definitely hold some amazing seeds.

Winter has definitely set in no frost, but we had 100mm of rain in two days last week. Did make me a bit scared of my choice to overwinter the Dahlias in the ground but they have no choice but to be tough cookies.

✅️ Lifted the daffodils from the front garden bed, as it is too shady for them and I have placed them in alternate spot with more sunlight. After dividing the ones that had multiple I had 161 bulbs, way more than anticipated 🌱

✅️ Still harvesting seed pods off the Dahlia plants, but not many left. The rain has made quite a few soggy and not viable. There is a couple of big seed pods still quite green and hopefully I may get a chance to harvest those when they are ripe.

✅️ Finally had a chance to plant out my yellow pigface that I took from cuttings up at the Clare Miniature Trains. They survived my tough love over the summer period. I can’t wait to see them take off now that they are out of pots.

✅️ Planted 100 tulips, first year growing and we will see how they go.

✅️ Ordered my Zinnia seeds and Globe amaranth seeds ready for spring.

Dahlia season may be over but the garden is still thriving with activity.

Picking Dahlia seed pods to hopefully grow Lilys very own dahlia next season. The goal is to plant 1000 dahlias from seed and chose only the very best 10.

This will be my fourth season and with that I believe finally have high standards that will make it easier to cull Dahlias from seed that are not up to standard.

Finished planting out 15metres of sweet peas- 8metres from the trays I sowed and the remaing 7metres I have planted the seeds out direct. If sowing sweet peas seeds direct yields great results I will skip the seed trays next year.

Dahlias will stay in the ground till late September, I am not bothering with digging them up early and storing them in the shed. I kept a few Dahlias in the ground last season to see how they would go and they actually did better in comparison to the ones I dug up and stored.

I wasn't going to grow Chrysanthemums but Bunnings got me good today, smaller plants down to $3 and they had bigger plants from $20 down to a $7. Couldn't help myself but get a few for the garden and we will see how they go.

In love with this Verbena Superbena Stormburst only seen it come out this year. It has beautiful lilac and white flowers. With lilac being Lily's colour it's a must have addition to the garden.

Still busy in the garden even though Dahlia season has finished;
✅️Sweet peas are ready to be planted out from the trays. Heaps of seeds left which I will stagger planting out.

✅️Assembled a couple of tee pees with the help of my husband not sure where they will go yet.

✅️Set up 15m of netting for the sweet peas.

✅️Planted out 100 tulips.

✅️Seed pods from the Dahlias will be ready to be picked in the next coming weeks.

Wandered through the garden this morning for the first time in awhile with having sick children, working and trying to keep the house under control.

Seed pods are coming along nicely couple of wet days but it is a beautiful sunny day for them to dry out.

A few dahlias are yet to get the picture the season has ended namely Bracken Sarah. Couldn't help but pick the last few for myself to enjoy.

Two plants in the garden that I am absolutely is yarrow with its beautiful small white flowers and Ageratum Perennial. Can't get enough of these 😍
