Meet Phyllip - Our Senior Building Surveyor & Founder. Strap in because he's got a lot of experience!

In the early years, Phyll was a cabinet maker by trade gaining a wealth of knowledge and experience in the construction industry.

He's spent 4 years as a building maintenance supervisor for CQUniversity Rockhampton, where he gained his Diploma in Building Inspection, Bachelor of Building Surveying and Advanced and his Level 1 Building Surveyor.

Phyll then spent 6 years as a building certifier for the Rockhampton Regional Council before opening CQ Building Certifications in 2004, becoming Rockhampton’s first privately owned building certification company.

Since then, he has gained experience in all levels and classes of building certification,
became an accredited member of AIBS (formerly known as BSAP – Building Surveyors and Allied Professionals Accreditation Board Inc.) since 2000 and possesses a QBCC license.

He can’t get through the workday without the thought of retirement… and whether it will stick this time.😂

If your block sits in a mapped bushfire prone area, your new home needs a bushfire assessment before it can be approved.

The assessment looks at the vegetation around your site, how far away it is and the slope of the land. That gives you a Bushfire Attack Level, or BAL. There are six levels, from BAL LOW through to BAL -FZ. The higher your level, the more your home needs. Every step up adds cost.

Here's the part that is missed. Where you site the house can change your level.

Find out your BAL before your designer finalises the plans and you avoid redesigns, material changes, and surprise costs.

A ten-minute conversation with your certifier can save you thousands.
