Anti-Dumping Commission Investigation 692 - Findings of Preliminary Affirmative Determination (PAD)

A BIG STEP TOWARDS A LEVEL PLAYING FIELD FOR AUSTRALIAN MANUFACTURERS OF WELDED MESH

The Steel Reinforcement Institute of Australia (SRIA) is pleased to advise that following a joint application by SRIA and InfraBuild for the imposition of Anti-Dumping measures on welded steel mesh sheets exported from China and Malaysia, the Australian Anti-Dumping Commission (ADC) on Friday 7 August 2026 published a Positive Affirmative Determination (PAD) against China.

This important milestone announced by the Commissioner of the ADC, has made a preliminary determination that mesh has been dumped in the Australian market by exporters from China requiring that securities be taken as an amount worked out at rates ranging from 28.4% to 45.3% while the investigation continues.

This PAD is available on the ADC electronic public record (EPR) at:https://www.industry.gov.au/sites/default/files/adc/public-record/2026-08/692-56-notice-adn-adc-adn-2026107-findings-of-preliminary-affirmative-determination.pdf

While the ADC investigation continues a notice for the Statement of Essential Facts (SEF) date has now been extended to 30 September 2026 as published on the EPR and is available at:https://www.industry.gov.au/sites/default/files/adc/public-record/2026-08/692-55-notice-adn-adc-adn-2026106-extension-of-time-to-publish-statement-of-essential-facts-and-final-report.pdf

As the majority of SRIA members producing welded steel mesh sheets in Australia are Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises; usually family owned and operated; this is a welcome and much needed first step by the ADC to secure the survival of these businesses, and an important domestic industry supporting the resilience of Australia’s housing and construction industries.
