Grizzly Plumbing

🐻 Sunday Stories with Tommo - where Grizzly Plumbing grew from.

When my wife wanted to start filming this series, one of the first questions she asked me was: “What, or who - made you the plumber you are today?”

Before there was Grizzly Plumbing, there were a lot of years learning the trade and a lot of good people who helped shape the plumber I am today.

I’ve spent most of my plumbing career here in the Hastings, starting with work experience locally, completing my apprenticeship here and learning from some bloody good plumbers and foremen along the way.

I’ve also had the opportunity to work away, including as a plumbing supervisor out west and some time around Newcastle which gave me plenty of different experience before eventually coming home.

When I look at Grizzly now, a lot of what I value in the business - doing things properly, working hard, finding a solution and taking pride in the work I put my name to comes from the people I learnt from throughout my career.

I mention a few of those people in this video, but there are plenty more who have had an impact on me and taught me something along the way and I’m grateful for all of them.

These are the roots of Grizzly Plumbing and I’m pretty proud of where it’s grown from. 🐻🔧

🏠 Taking this one to the next level 🔧🐻

I’ve been working on this impressive upstairs addition by Tim Sales Constructions, transforming an existing single-level home with a brand-new parents’ retreat, complete with a master bedroom, huge walk-in robe, spacious bathroom and generous study area.

There’s a lot that goes into adding an entire second storey to an existing property and I’ve taken care of the plumbing from the drainage and rough-in right through to the fit-off, including the external guttering and downpipes.

It’s been a great project to be part of and even better seeing it all come together. Another quality local project I’m proud to have Grizzly Plumbing be a part of. 🔧🐻

This mornings stories showed me working and completing the job… but here’s what you don’t see 👇🏼

I headed to this new build today planning to install two stormwater pits, but after investigating, found the existing stormwater line was only around 250mm below ground, meaning the original plan simply wasn’t going to work properly.

I could’ve done the job anyway, charged the client and moved on, but that’s not how I work.

With landscapers booked for tomorrow, I called the client, explained what I’d found and came up with a Plan B. I then called the landscapers directly to make sure that Plan B would still work with what they had planned for the landscaping and to take that extra pressure off the owner.

Did I have to? No. But going that extra mile is part of the service and what I pride myself on.

Sometimes good plumbing isn’t about doing more work - it’s about doing what’s actually right for the client.

Honest advice. Practical solutions. No unnecessary work. 🐻🔧

🚽 Tuesday Tips With Tommo🐻🔧

Does your toilet keep running long after you’ve flushed it?

A faulty cistern washer could be the culprit - a small issue that can waste a surprising amount of water if left unchecked.

The good news? It’s usually a quick and easy fix.

If your toilet won’t stop running, give Grizzly Plumbing a call and I’ll get it sorted.

Last night’s call-out had me heading to what was reported as a leaking hot water system. After a thorough investigation, the real culprit turned out to be a major grease line blockage.

This is a popular local café, so it was important to get everything cleared properly and have the plumbing back up and running before the Sunday rush. ☕️

Whether it’s an emergency call-out or ongoing commercial property maintenance, Grizzly Plumbing is ready to keep your business operating with minimal disruption.

🐻 Tuesday Tips with Tommo

Think twice before putting rat bait in your roof! 🐀💧

After consuming bait, rats and mice often become extremely thirsty and may chew through plastic water pipes in search of water - turning a rodent issue into a plumbing problem.

If you’ve got a water leak after dealing with rodents, give Grizzly Plumbing a call. 🛠️

💧 Another drainage problem solved today.

A sump pit and sump pump were installed to stop this homeowner’s laundry from flooding during heavy rain. The system collects excess stormwater and pumps it directly into the property’s stormwater system via the downpipe, ensuring the water is removed from the property completely rather than simply being diverted elsewhere.

If you want it done right the first time, give me a call before your issue gets grizzly. 🐻
