Roads, health services, housing, sporting facilities, schools, childcare, community spaces — funding for all of it is shaped by Census numbers. If the Pilbara is undercounted on Tuesday 11 August 2026, the case for the investment our region needs and deserves gets weaker, and our region keeps playing catch-up on the things we actually need.

We already feel the gap between how fast the Pilbara region is growing when compared to the pace the infrastructure follows.

Congratulations to all of this year’s Port Hedland Chamber of Commerce Industry Business Excellence Award winners — what a wonderful evening on Saturday.
