Tree recovery project to prevent further spread of Phytophthora (fungal root rot) & improve the health of heritage Redwood trees.

11x trees showing signs of Phytophthora infection, crown dieback, soft roots & bark delamination.

Treatment process:
-Confirm Phytophthora infection using laboratory testing & analysis.
-Remove compacted & hydrophilic (water holding) soil contaminated with Phytophthora to prevent further infection & spread.
-Expose anaerobic (poorly oxygenated) roots to improve soil aeration & nutrient uptake.
-Apply Gypsum over exposed roots to break up clay matter.
-Apply high quality slow release fertiliser to improve soil nutrient availability.
-Cover exposed roots with high quality soil & sand mix to improve soil biology.
-Cover new soil with straw to help retain water & nutrients in soil.
-Insert PHOSCAP high phosphate tree implants to treat Phytophthora.spade
