CGS Facades embarked on a strategic journey approximately 18 months ago, recognizing the pivotal role of nurturing future tradesmen for the company's growth. Collaborating with Steve Thomas from Train & Retain, the foundation was laid for CGS to welcome its inaugural apprentice.

Just over a year ago, the first apprentice, a glazing apprentice looking to resume his apprenticeship at the beginning of his third year who was Relocating to Perth, kickstarted this initiative. Under the mentorship of Byron Andrews, the apprentices undergo Tafe training and practical sessions, alleviating administrative burdens from CGS. Since then, this approach enabled CGS to onboard 6 apprentices at different stages of their training, with a 7th existing team member transitioning to Carpentry to be mentored by Byron Andrews.

The initial apprentice is now a certified tradesman, with two nearing certification very shortly. CGS expresses gratitude to Train & Retain for their invaluable contribution to shaping the future workforce.

Expanding beyond the trades, CGS has embraced a Construction Management student, enhancing both site and office operations.

More of the CGS Facades installation works on the Ellenbrook train line, this time its Ballajura train Station, part of the completely new line, much of the perforated cladding featuring various artworks, wrapping the concourse along with Steel posts to carry the screens to the western Facade, large steel frame entry gates and some vibrant coloured cladding to 3 arbour structures

Another successful project completed by the CGS Facades team!

The installation of Isometric aluminum perforated screens, enhancing the main facade of the entrance to the Noranda train station. Additionally, we provided cladding for the Arbour structure along the Ellenbrook train line. This project presented unique challenges due to the confined space and limited access, but we overcame them to deliver outstanding results.

Another Project installed by the CGS Facades team in 2023, on behalf of Penguin Facades, the new Public Transport Operations Control Centre in East Perth.

- Three floors of window wall, unitised glazed panels with Sub-frame.
- 303 Aluminium fixed fins to the perimeter of 3 floors
- Narrow steel frame unitised strip windows installed between precast concrete panels by others
- Ground floor Airlock with auto doors and main entry featuring a large, curved unit.

Leading the crew Installing stage 1 on the new Bayswater train Station, Installation on behalf of Com-Al.

Including site fabrication of framing and structural glazing to 2 lifts as part of stage One, with another 2 as part of stage Two, and I am pleased to say these are nearing completion.

Installation of tenancy glazing, with a combination of sub-framed prefabricated aluminium panels, site fabricated framing, with curved glass sections and structurally glazed, Including Artwork glass, much of which is currently also on going in Stage two.

190 St Georges Terrace in Central Perth:

Yet another great project to have been a part of, with some challenging aspects, 1000KG+ Double frameless glazed units, Installed into some tight areas. Supported by structural steel frames enclosed with cladding, all Installed by the the team on behalf of Penguin Facades.

The project was a joy to be a part of.
