Urgent Switchboard Fault ⚠️

This week we attended an emergency callout after a customer noticed a burning smell coming from their switchboard. On inspection, we found one of the RCDs had been sparking and had partially melted - a serious fire risk.

The issue was suspected to be caused by incorrect size fuse protection combined with a loose connection.

To make the installation safe, we carried out a complete switchboard upgrade, including:

✔️Removal of old ceramic fuses and outdated RCDs.
✔️ New RCBO/RCD protection for each circuit
✔️ Full re-termination and tightening of all circuits

Electrical faults like this often show warning signs such as:
• Burning smells
• Flickering lights
• Warm switchboards
• Tripping circuits
• Buzzing or crackling sounds

If your switchboard is old, still has ceramic fuses, or you’re unsure whether it’s up to current standards, it’s worth having it checked before a small issue becomes a major hazard.

⚠️ LATE NIGHT EMERGENCY CALLOUT ⚠️

This is what we walked into late last night - a faulty double adapter had been arcing and overheating, causing serious scorching up the wall.

A very lucky escape. If there had been combustible material stored above this outlet, this could have easily turned into a house fire.

Double adapters are only a temporary solution and can become dangerous when used on high-load appliances or for long periods.

If you’re constantly relying on adapters or overloaded power boards, it’s time for a safer fix.

Today we attended a home in Edgewater for what was meant to be a small job.

Before commencing, we discovered that none of the lights or socket outlets in the house were RCD‑protected, and there was no earth stake or tap‑earth bond installed.
This was a serious safety concern - especially with little ones running around.

To bring the home up to current safety standards, we installed:

A new switchboard enclosure,RCD safety switches on every circuit,new earth stake and
a new tap‑earth bond.

The home is now far safer, and the family can enjoy peace of mind knowing their electrical system is properly protected.

Today we attended an urgent job in Padbury to replace a badly rusted distribution pole at the front of a customer’s property.

After our client reported the defect to Western Power, the pole was disconnected for safety - leaving them without power in the middle of the Christmas holiday heat. Not ideal!

We installed a brand‑new distribution pole and had their power restored quickly and safely.
