⚠️ Save the Great Artesian Basin - Sign the online petition ⚠️

The Great Artesian Basin is one of the largest underground freshwater resources in the world. It is Australia’s largest groundwater basin. The Basin spans almost 1.7 million square kilometres which is over one-fifth of the Australian continent. There is around 65 million GL of groundwater in the Basin which is enough water to fill the Sydney Harbour 130,000 times.

As you are aware a Glencore subsidiary, CTSCo, has applied to the State Government for approval to inject 300,000 tonnes of liquid CO2 into the GAB at a location west of Moonie on the Darling Downs.

Currently an online Queensland Parliamentary Petition is open calling on the State Governmnet to not approve the proposal which has been initiated by Ms Jo Sheppard, CEO, Queensland Farmers Federation and sponsored by Robbie Katter MP, Member for Traeger. The petition provides an ideal opportunity to express individual concerns about the proposal and you are encouraged to sign it and pass it on to others to do likewise. Currently the petition has attracted over 10,000 signatures.
