Housing policy is shaping up to be a key battleground in the next state and federal elections.

We’re simply not building enough houses. The housing supply gap in WA is forecast to get worse over the next 5 years if we don’t make it easier to build new homes.

We also know that the Federal governments proposed changes to IR Laws risks adding further costs and constraints to construction businesses. These changes risk making the housing crisis even worse.

MBAWA members met with the Shadow Minister for Housing, Michael Sukkar and Shadow Minister for Industrial Relations and WA Senator Michaelia Cash yesterday before the Coalition’s Cabinet meeting to discuss policies to help more people into homeownership and the risks that the governments IR Laws present to every prospective new homeowner in WA.
