We're thrilled to share this time-lapse video of our progress in West Musgrave.
Standing tall at 25.4M high, with 725 tonnes of reinforcement used and 2,940m3 of concrete poured so far, the completion of the primary crusher was a huge milestone on site and wouldn’t have been so successfully achieved without our dedicated team.
The team on our site have done such incredible work and have been committed every step of the way, it's great to be able to look back and see how far we've come thanks to everyone's efforts.
Thank you also to Sitevisuals for the amazing work putting this video together.
With NAIDOC week and school holidays coinciding, Melchor Contracting invited the children of our office-based team to partake in our NAIDOC event. Together, we had a great day recognising and celebrating the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
After an introduction to the history of NAIDOC by Melchor Contracting's Aboriginal Engagement Partner Ralph Mogridge, our team experienced a Smoking Ceremony with Anthony Abraham (who has connections to Whadjuk, Yued, Ballardong, Wilmen, Wardandi and Binjareb People and Country).
Following the Smoking Ceremony, Wadjak-Ballardong Noongar Dylan Collard (recent recipient of the NAIDOC Perth 2023 Education Award) guided us through a fun and interactive Noongar language class. We learnt the Noongar words for a range of birds, land animals, and ocean animals, as well as short sentences to express our feelings. We loved watching the kids soak up Dylan's passion for sharing Noongar language, and hope they'll help to continue spreading the language so it can be spoken for another 50,000 years!
Stopping to enjoy morning tea together, which featured a delicious range of native jams, sauces, herbs & spices, the kids spent the afternoon partaking in various activities. Decorating NAIDOC-themed cookies from Aboriginal-owned and operated business 'Just Because Cookies' seemed to be a highlight!
Thank you to everyone involved in making the day a success.

This International Women's Day, we would like to recognise the impressive contributions of the women at Melchor Contracting, who fill a broad range of positions. Their commitment and diligence, in an industry recognised for particularly low female participation, should be celebrated.
We reflect on the progress made towards gender equity, and recognise the responsibility we have to support and encourage more women to enter and stay in Construction.
Flying the Flag for R U OK? Day 2022
Today, Melchor Contracting was proud to take part in R U OK? Day and support MATES in Construction by 'flying the flag' at our project sites across Western Australia.
In an industry where stigma is high, today serves as an important reminder to regularly check in with your mates and ask R U OK?
