We're thrilled to share this time-lapse video of our progress in West Musgrave.

Standing tall at 25.4M high, with 725 tonnes of reinforcement used and 2,940m3 of concrete poured so far, the completion of the primary crusher was a huge milestone on site and wouldn’t have been so successfully achieved without our dedicated team.

The team on our site have done such incredible work and have been committed every step of the way, it's great to be able to look back and see how far we've come thanks to everyone's efforts.

Thank you also to Sitevisuals for the amazing work putting this video together.

On International Women's Day, we proudly acknowledge the impressive contributions of the women within our Melchor team, who fill a diverse range of positions. We celebrate their talent, commitment, and diligence in an industry recognised for low female participation.

In addition to the celebrations held at our project sites, our office-based team wore purple IWD polos to mark the occasion. Not only are the shirts a symbol of our commitment to gender diversity and inclusion, but a portion of the proceeds from each shirt also went towards supporting Dress for Success Western Australia. This incredible charity empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire, job support mentoring and access to career development workshops.

We are proud to contribute to such a meaningful cause as part of our ongoing commitment to foster an inclusive and diverse professional landscape.

Congratulations to Austin on the completion of his Carpentry Apprenticeship!
Joining Melchor Contracting in 2022, Austin completed the final year of his apprenticeship with us. During this time, Austin gained exposure to construction sites across various industries, including a lithium refinery project, a bridge infrastructure project, and most recently, a remote mine site.

Austin's positive and enthusiastic approach to work has earned him the respect of his peers and the leadership team. Superintendent Cam Stowell expressed his appreciation for Austin's growth, saying, "It has been rewarding to witness Austin develop his Carpentry skills and embody the Melchor Contracting values. We are thrilled to have him on our team and look forward to his continued growth."

Austin, we applaud your achievement and are excited to support you as you advance in your career. Keep up the great work!

Melchor Contracting is proud to announce its sponsorship of Nudge. Nudge gives young people looking to kickstart their careers the advice, one-on-one support, and confidence needed to thrive in the workplace.

Already involved in the Trainee Engagement Program, Melchor Contracting looks forward to building its relationship with Nudge to help realise our shared goal of developing young people to reach their full potential in the Construction industry.

10/07/2023

With NAIDOC week and school holidays coinciding, Melchor Contracting invited the children of our office-based team to partake in our NAIDOC event. Together, we had a great day recognising and celebrating the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

After an introduction to the history of NAIDOC by Melchor Contracting's Aboriginal Engagement Partner Ralph Mogridge, our team experienced a Smoking Ceremony with Anthony Abraham (who has connections to Whadjuk, Yued, Ballardong, Wilmen, Wardandi and Binjareb People and Country).

Following the Smoking Ceremony, Wadjak-Ballardong Noongar Dylan Collard (recent recipient of the NAIDOC Perth 2023 Education Award) guided us through a fun and interactive Noongar language class. We learnt the Noongar words for a range of birds, land animals, and ocean animals, as well as short sentences to express our feelings. We loved watching the kids soak up Dylan's passion for sharing Noongar language, and hope they'll help to continue spreading the language so it can be spoken for another 50,000 years!

Stopping to enjoy morning tea together, which featured a delicious range of native jams, sauces, herbs & spices, the kids spent the afternoon partaking in various activities. Decorating NAIDOC-themed cookies from Aboriginal-owned and operated business 'Just Because Cookies' seemed to be a highlight!

Thank you to everyone involved in making the day a success.

Another fantastic morning spent with the team at helping to ready sports equipment for distribution as part of their Recycle & Donate program!

They're gearing up before the winter sports season starts, and put our team to work sorting, cleaning, and packing donated equipment. When asked how the day went, one Melchor volunteer replied "Really well - very good for the soul".

Today, some of the Melchor Contracting and Elite Concrete Protection & Repair team took some time from their usual roles to help at the Fair Game headquarters. They sorted, cleaned, and counted donated sports equipment, ready to be distributed to underserved communities in Western Australia.

They came across a pair of footy boots, pictured. The note attached from the young donor reads, "hello my name is Lennix with these boots I kicked my first goal. Hope you do too!"

A short note with a powerful message - meaningful giving can make lasting impact. If you have pre-loved sports equipment in the garage gathering dust, please consider donating it to Fair Game.

Congratulations to Dhontayne on the completion of his Carpentry Apprenticeship!

Dhontayne initially started with Melchor Contracting in late 2019 as a labourer on the Waste to Energy project. Recognised for his work ethic and commitment, Dhontayne was soon after signed on to complete his Carpentry apprenticeship with us.

Maintaining an impressive standard of safety - for himself and his colleagues - earned Dhontayne multiple nominations for Melchor Contracting’s Apprentice of the Year 2022 award. Project Manager, Ryan O’Rourke remarked on Dhontayne’s “excellent attitude towards work, showing respect to his colleagues and peers. He is extremely consistent and has become someone you can depend on with his reliability, which is great to see in such a young person”.

Well done Dhontayne, we look forward to supporting your career as you progress in the industry!

Following the recent release of our Aboriginal Engagement Plan, and ambition to help create an equitable, healthier, and sustainable Australia, Melchor Contracting are excited to announce that we will be supporting Fair Game. Fair Game is a health charity that delivers unique health and fitness programs, and recycled sports equipment to remote and under-serviced communities.

Expressed perfectly by Ralph Mogridge (Melchor Contracting's Aboriginal Engagement Advisor), "Not only has sport been recognised as a contributing factor to building healthy lifestyles in individuals, but it's also instrumental in drawing communities together...Healthy Bodies = Healthy Minds = Healthy Communities".

To kick start our support, we have commenced a sports equipment donation drive, calling on our team to donate pre-loved sports gear. Our sites and Osborne Park office are receiving specially labelled blue bins, and we encourage our team, suppliers and clients to utilise the bins and fill with equipment. Details on what to donate (and what cannot be accepted) can be found on the bins, or at the Fair Game website: https://www.fairgame.org.au/donate-equipment/

As part of our commitment to training the next generation, Melchor Contracting actively participates in Vocational Training programmes, working with schools to provide experience and exposure to students interested in the building and construction industry.

Baldivis Secondary College recently invited Sefanaia to revisit his old school and speak to their students taking part in the ETP (External Training Pathway) in 2023 and 2024. The pathway includes either a TAFE or work experience component, and Sefa spoke about his opportunity to complete work experience with Melchor Contracting.

Sefa took part in the ETP in 2021, which led to his Carpentry apprenticeship with Melchor Contracting. Now commencing the second year of his Apprenticeship, we're tremendously proud Sefa took the opportunity to speak to current students about his experience.
