🌿 BEFORE & AFTER | A Common Rental Garden Problem
This particular consultation began with a challenge I see surprisingly often.
My client had ongoing concerns with their rental property’s garden, where several plants had failed over time. Unfortunately, the responsibility for maintaining the garden had become a point of tension, despite the fact that many of the original plants had been placed in unsuitable conditions from the very beginning.
Poor plant selection, inappropriate positioning, inadequate soil preparation and unrealistic expectations are all issues I regularly identify during consultations.
In situations like these, a professional garden assessment can help determine whether plant failures are due to tenant maintenance or whether the plants were never given the right conditions to thrive in the first place.
As you can see from the before photos, many of the original plants had completely failed. While there wasn’t much we could do to save them at that stage, I was able to identify the species involved and assess the contributing factors.
Because the property was being prepared for sale, we then moved forward with a budget-friendly mini makeover.

The result is a space that not only looks better but is far more suited to its environment.
One of the most important lessons in gardening is this:
The right plant, in the right place, makes all the difference.
If you’re experiencing similar issues in a rental property, or simply aren’t sure why plants continue to struggle despite your best efforts, a consultation can often provide clarity and practical solutions.
