We recently welcomed the Curtin Mechanical Society to our Henderson facility to give them a tour and insights into the manufacturing work that we do.

Executive Group Manager Proposals & Growth, Peter Ricciardello, led the tour and spoke about the benefits that young engineers get when working for a self-perform contractor.

In particular, he highlighted how there is a distinct difference in being directly exposed and responsible for the work than being a few steps removed and managing the project from afar.

We hope the visit was a rewarding experience for all members of Curtin Mechanical Society who attended, and we look forward to seeing where your careers take you.

Civmec is excited to share that the major structures for the Causeway Pedestrian and Cyclist Bridges are now in place.

The project will provide two iconic six-metre-wide cable stayed bridges over the Swan River, that will create a kilometre long crossing between McCallum Park, Heirisson Island and Point Fraser. Ultimately, this project aims to achieve greater connectivity and safety for the thousands of cyclists and pedestrians who travel through the area every day.

With construction on the project commencing last year, all 16 of the Civmec fabricated bridge modules, along with the bridge pylons, are now in place for the project’s expected completion later this year.

The project will now move into the next stage of construction, which will include the installation of state-of-the-art feature lighting, transforming the bridge into an eye-catching and iconic Perth landmark.

Check this out! The final pylon has been installed on the Causeway Pedestrian and Cyclist Bridges Project.

The boomerang pylon, which symbolises the spirit of the Whadjuk warriors, was fabricated at our Henderson facility before being transported to site for installation. It’s now standing tall in Perth and will be admired for years to come by the anticipated 3,000 pedestrians and cyclists who will use the bridges each day.

We think it looks incredible!

Yesterday, as part of our NAIDOC Week celebrations, we hosted a special event attended by local elders, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees, suppliers, and friends, along with colleagues, clients, and state and local government representatives, in our Assembly Hall foyer.

The event provided an opportunity for us to celebrate and recognise the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and to learn more about the significance of the land on which Civmec operates.

An amazing Welcome to Country from Whadjuk Nyoongar Elder Steven Jacobs, along with our own Graeme Harwood, Senior HSE Advisor, as the MC, set the scene for the centrepiece of the event - a video animation of the Walyalup Dreaming story. The powerful story, featuring Yondock, the Waugle, Woorriji, and Dwert, remains a vital part of the cultural tapestry of the Whadjuk people. The Dreamtime story also holds a special significance for us here at Civmec, as it describes how Derbal Nara (Cockburn Sound), the location of our Henderson facility, and the chain of islands from Meendip (Garden Island) to Wadjemup (Rottnest Island), were formed.

We’d like to thank all those in attendance and remain grateful to play a role to ‘keep the fire burning’ for the local Whadjuk Noongar culture.

Congratulations, Nat, on this well-deserved recognition! We are proud to have you as a part of the Civmec team.

Civmec recently visited Murdoch University to provide a lecture to students on Cyber Security and risk management. The lecture, delivered by Cyber Security Officer, Bryn Lacey, sparked a lot of discussion, with students asking plenty of insightful questions.

During the lecture, Bryn also delved into how Cyber Security integrates into local industries, especially in Construction, sharing firsthand experiences on what it's like to work in Cyber Security within our sector.

At Civmec, we're passionate about shaping the future of Cyber Security education. That's why we've been collaborating closely with Murdoch University, contributing to the development of future graduates in this field.

We look forward to further opportunities to educate the next generation of Cyber Security and continuing our collaboration with Murdoch University.
