Further to the announcement released on 26 June 2025, Civmec is pleased to confirm that it has completed the acquisition of 100% of the shares in Luerssen Australia from NVL Australia GmbH.

This milestone strengthens Civmec’s role in Australia’s naval shipbuilding sector by bringing Luerssen Australia’s operations, workforce, and assets under full local ownership. The business includes a highly skilled team with deep experience in naval shipbuilding, mature engineering and training systems, and a robust supply chain with strong local industry participation—particularly in Western Australia. These capabilities will remain in place to support the ongoing delivery of the SEA1180 Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) program.

Civmec is excited to announce that the Boorloo Bridge project has recently received the Austroads Bridge Award for "Best Structure over 35 Metres".

Completed in December last year, the bridge's design incorporates references to prominent Whadjuk Noongar people and culture, while providing the community with a new and safer way to walk, wheel, and ride between Victoria Park and East Perth.

Civmec is proud to have contributed to such an iconic Perth landmark and is grateful for the project's recognition as the recipient of one of Australia's premier bridge awards. Additionally, the project has been shortlisted for the International Footbridge Award, which will be awarded later this year.

Along with Optus Stadium, the Matagarup Bridge and Elizabeth Quay, the bridge is another example of iconic Perth infrastructure delivered by Civmec.

Civmec and Luerssen Australia congratulate the Royal Australian Navy on the commissioning of HMAS Arafura and celebrate the vital contribution of all staff and contractors in her delivery.

The commissioning is a milestone in the development of Australia’s continuous naval shipbuilding enterprise and marks the first steel warship built in the Osborne Naval Shipyard since the Hobart Class Guided Missile Destroyers. It underlines the Nation’s commitment to sovereign defence capability, local industry and maritime security.

Last week at Civmec’s Henderson facility, we held our Graduate Program Selection Event for our January 2026 Intake.

One of our Graduate Program alumni, Mohit Raman, gave an informative talk on what future graduates can expect, and shared some advice on how to get the most out of the program.

Civmec’s Graduate Program offers participants the chance to engage in tailored learning and development modules across our Construction, Engineering, or Manufacturing divisions. This structure provides graduates with a comprehensive understanding of the business and exposes them to a variety of tasks, helping them build the confidence and skills needed to succeed in their roles after completing the program.

In addition to a tour of our facility, candidates participated in exercises designed to evaluate their ability to work collaboratively and complete tasks within tight timelines.

Civmec enters binding agreement to acquire Luerssen Australia.

Civmec Limited is pleased to announce that it has entered into a binding agreement to acquire 100% of the shares in Luerssen Australia Pty Ltd (Luerssen Australia) from NVL Australia GmbH (NVL).

This strategic acquisition marks a significant milestone in Civmec’s evolution as a sovereign Australian shipbuilder and will see the full ownership transfer of the Luerssen Australia business, including all assets, employees, and licences, subject to the satisfaction of conditions precedent. The transaction strengthens Australia’s sovereign shipbuilding capability by consolidating design, construction, and operational expertise under a single, locally owned entity—enhancing national resilience and supporting long-term defence industry growth.

Civmec is excited to announce that fabrication on a bridge reclaimer for one of our major clients has commenced.

As the only Australian company offering a comprehensive in-house balanced machines solution, from design and engineering to manufacturing, construction, maintenance, and spares management - this milestone is particularly significant.

This marks the first project fully designed by Civmec’s in-house Balanced Machines Division to move into the fabrication phase.

We are proud of the amazing work from the Balanced Machines Division and look forward to the development of this reclaimer.

We welcomed the Minister for Defence Industry, the Hon Pat Conroy MP to Civmec’s Henderson facility today.

The Minister toured one of the four Arafura Class Offshore Patrol Vessels under construction in our assembly hall, and met the Civmec and Luerssen Australia staff working on the project.
