Don’t worry about all the cloudy weather Perth has had lately - your solar is still soaking up all those UV rays as can be seen from yesterday’s production. My solar peaked just after 8am and rose & fell throughout the day but didn’t go below 2.5kw until after the sun starting retreating around 4pm. 👍🏼

Following on from Monday’s debunk about cleaning your panels, a client of mine sent me a screenshot of December’s production. Their system is doing over 40kwh which is great for a 6.6 kW system this time of year. For reference, this is a three year-old 6.6 kW system installed in Burns Beach, two streets away from the ocean so not only do they have dust and dirt but also salt water and residue on their panels. These panels have never been cleaned so it just goes to show, there is no need for cleaning panels. 👍🏼

Strap yourselves in, this is a long one but I guarantee, it’s worth the 3 minutes. If you’re currently spending time and/or money on cleaning your panels, watch and re-watch this. This’ll be controversial to those offering the service but there is absolutely no need to spend $300+ on cleaning your panels, it will not make one lick of difference to your performance. If your power bill arrives and is a lot higher than anticipated after having solar installed, it may be because it’s been ‘estimated’. You’ll find this little window on your bill, which means it’s not been read but estimated instead which is why it may be higher than normal. Something to look out for. 👍🏼

We’ve ended the week here in Perth with a bit of cloud cover but as you can see, solar is still repeatedly producing 5kw+ on my solar. You can see from the graph this morning it first peaked just after 8am and while it did dip a bit due to the clouds, it still kept getting up to and beyond 5kw. I still got a load of washing, the dishwasher and spa pump all done during solar today - how did you solar do today? 👍🏼
