A composting project at one of our regular clients h
Property, she has two very large compost bins, she had asked us to check the compost bays and use what was ready however due to bad irrigation and ivy roots utilising it as a growing medium there wasn't much to use and the whole thing needed emptying.
Long story not so short.... we emptied the bins and adjusted the irrigation to ensure thorough watering of the compost, added manure, leaves, twigs and have started this process again.
With adequate watering and no ivy roots taking over in only a few weeks everything is beginning to break down quite nicely!
A little spray with lactobacillus (a beneficial soil/human bacteria) will help to speed things up. At living soil gardens we love this kind of work.
