Queensland’s smoke alarm deadline is getting closer!
By 1 January 2027, all existing private homes, townhouses and units must have compliant interconnected photoelectric smoke alarms.
When one alarm detects smoke, every connected alarm sounds to provide earlier warning throughout the property. Smoke alarms may also need to be replaced sooner if they have expired, stopped working or the property is being converted into a rental.
Registered caravans and motorhomes must also be fitted with a photoelectric smoke alarm.
