A minor amount of moisture was initially observed by the homeowner within the ensuite; however, further investigation revealed this to be part of a more significant underlying leak.

H2O Leak Detection conducted a comprehensive ensuite flood test, which identified a substantial level of water egress from internal areas extending to external sections of the ensuite.

Primary source of the leak was determined to be the shower floor and floor waste. Additional contributing factors also may include no sealant around the shower flick mixer and the waste connection within the vanity.

Furthermore, the technician noted that the braided hose, while not actively leaking at the time of inspection, is showing signs of corrosion. This presents a high risk of failure and potential bursting if not replaced promptly. Immediate replacement is strongly recommended to prevent the possibility of significant water damage occurring, particularly in the event of failure while the property is unattended.

This homeowner had been battling a stubborn leak for over a year, engaging multiple trades with no success. The ongoing leak caused extensive water damage to the ceiling and floor joists below the balcony. In an attempt to fix the issue, the balcony tiles were removed, the deck was re-waterproofed, and new floor and skirting tiles were installed — yet the leak continued.

That’s when H2O Leak Detection was finally called in.

Using the latest thermal imaging and advanced testing techniques, we identified the real culprit: a hairline crack in the wall. Water was entering through this tiny crack, tracking behind the rendered wall and leaking into the ceiling cavity below, causing all the damage.

It’s incredible how something so small can create such a big issue.

This is the perfect example of why you should call H2O Leak Detection first — before engaging multiple trades — to accurately locate the source of your mystery leak and avoid unnecessary repairs.
