A little recap for those who have started following us since we opened in February 💜
We are Matt and Alice - we have been married for 10 years, have 3 young children and are the owners of Mountain River Flower Patch 💐
After a few years of Matt bringing home many plants, I suggested that maybe one day we should open our garden up to the public so others could enjoy all he was planting! Matt, keen to buy more plants, promptly planted a few little rows so we could experiment with some cut flower varieties. Those first plants were small and had few blooms but, despite the mediocre harvest, we kept moving forward with the idea.
In spring 2024 we planted out some bigger trial rows, and these ones flourished and produced way more flowers than we expected! We were able to sell bunches, host parties and invite friends to come and pick during the summer and autumn months of 2025.
After the success of the trial rows, and at the encouragement of all who visited we decided to go ahead and open to the public much sooner than we had originally planned.
We had a very busy second half of 2025 as we doubled the amount of rows in our main patch, planted a whole rose garden and some natives.
In February of this year we opened up to the public for the first time and while we were nervous and very unsure what to expect, we had such an amazing couple of months with so much support from the community 🥰
