This is why I’d recommend letting the existing grass (warm-season grasses) to self repair after any damage, unless of course you know EXACTLY which turf variety you have currently. New turf was laid in the darker green patches of this lawn and clearly the newer turf patches are darker green colour in colour and stand out.

A great visual example of how every property can have its own microclimate, even the same property. In this case, the front and back lawns tell very different stories. The second image clearly shows frost damage, while the front lawn remains unaffected, with the only a real difference just few metres in elevation separating the two.
