Your yellow lawn is trying to tell you something. ๐ฟ
Two things cause it most of the time. First, watering habits. Too little, and the grass dries out and yellows from stress. Too much, though, and it's just as damaging: roots sitting in overly wet soil can't get enough oxygen, which stresses the lawn differently but leads to the same yellowing effect. It's easy to assume yellow always means "needs more water," but overwatering is just as common a cause.
Second, soil nutrition. Even with a solid watering routine, if the soil isn't giving your lawn the right nutrients, the grass simply can't hold onto that deep green colour. This is where a lot of lawns get stuck: people fix the watering and still don't see improvement because the actual issue was underneath, in the soil itself.
The real fix usually comes down to getting both right together: a consistent watering schedule matched with the correct fertiliser for your specific soil and grass type. It's rarely an overnight change; colour recovery takes a bit of time once the lawn actually gets what it needs, but it's also rarely a lost cause. Most yellowing is fixable once you know which of the two is actually the problem.
