Just an afternoon of sorting through some of these dahlia seed heads with my girl 🩷

Growing Dahlias from seed is so much fun, you never know what you'll get. If you haven't tried it, you should!

The last pic shows the inside of a viable seed, the little white part is called an endosperm and this means your seed has been pollinated 👏

*You obviously shouldn't go cracking them all open if you want to grow them 🤣 its just fun to check sometimes! If the seed hasn't been pollinated/isn't viable, it will be empty inside!

**yes, I know... I'll never be a hand model 🤣

Back from being a little MIA last week 🙌

Florelie Meagan was a new dahlia in my garden last season and she was STUNNING!

I haven't started my digging and dividing yet (nothing like last minute chaos gardening right?! 🫠). Here's hoping she gives me plenty of tubers for this coming season 🤞

Where did the name Petal & Sheaf come from?

Petal & Sheaf was chosen to reflect everything we hope this little venture will become—a place where flowers bloom, seasons are celebrated, and people gather to slow down and reconnect with nature and each other.

A petal represents beauty, growth and the simple joy that flowers bring. It reflects our love of growing dahlias and creating spaces where people can slow down, wander through the garden and spend time together.

A sheaf, traditionally a bundle of harvested grain, represents abundance, hard work and the harvest. It's a reminder of the land, the changing seasons and the rewarding cycle of sowing, nurturing and gathering.

This is just the beginning and we can't wait to share the journey with you! 🌱
