Acoustic Wall System

The acoustic wall constructed in the Unit 2 garage is designed to reduce noise transmission into the Unit 1 lounge room by approximately 50 decibels.

The wall has been constructed using 90 x 35 timber framing, insulated with Bradford SoundScreen R3.1 Acoustic Wall Insulation, and lined with two layers of CSR 13mm Soundchek plasterboard. The plasterboard joints were staggered between layers to improve acoustic performance, and the perimeter of the wall was sealed with HB Fuller FireSound fire-rated acoustic sealant to minimise sound leakage.

Sinking A/C Inverter ⚠️

A failing retaining wall caused a 205kg A/C inverter to sink and become unstable.
After replacing the wall, we installed concrete stumps founded on stable ground and spanned galvanised steel lintels between them, creating a solid, load-bearing platform to support the unit.

This was an enjoyable project for a fantastic client, Lisa. We removed the broken gas heater and surrounding brickwork, then installed new plaster, a tiled hearth, and a vintage mantelpiece that Lisa personally restored—sanding it back and giving it a fresh coat of paint before installation.
