It’s the stage that looks like nothing and decides everything. Rush it and you spend the next three sessions pushing paint around trying to fix an angle a pencil would have fixed in seconds.

Paint is a terrible eraser.

So I take the time now. Measure, step back, check it in the mirror, get it right while it’s still cheap to be wrong.

A light stain goes on and the drawing holds… for now.
