When I started my gardening journey last year, I didnโt have a big garden or a lot of money to spend. I simply started with three pots. ๐ชด ๐ชด ๐ชด
I planted things I often use when cooking, like rosemary, thyme and spring onions. As I became more interested in gardening, I started buying another pot here and there and growing different herbs and vegetables.
Eventually, I realised I needed more space because I wanted to grow vegetables that I actually wanted to eat. So, I cleaned up a small area at the back of my shed and started planting.
During summer, I grew bitter melon, swamp cabbage, eggplant, saluyot, okra, cucumber, tomatoes, lemongrass and chillies etc. ๐

Then came winter, and I filled my backyard with onions, garlic, lettuce, celery, cauliflower, broccoli, broccolini, carrots, kale, radishes, silverbeet and more. ๐ฅฆ๐ฅ๐ฅฌ
I also planted potatoes throughout the year and started growing fruit trees in large pots. ๐๐ฅ๐ณ
This year, I took another step and expanded my garden with garden beds and more grow bags.
But my biggest tip is: DONโT WAIT UNTIL YOU HAVE A BIG GARDEN TO START.
Start with one or two pots. ๐ชด๐ชด
Plant the herbs or vegetables you use regularly when you cook.
Grow a little, learn a little, and expand when youโre ready.
You donโt need a huge backyard or a huge budget to start growing your own food. Start small, start with what you need, and let your garden grow with you. ๐
