We're pleased to have supplied and installed our ULTRAMAT Entrance Matting System at the new ATURA Oran Park hotel in Southwest Sydney.

With its contemporary design and welcoming atmosphere, ATURA Oran Park is all about creating a great guest experience, right from the moment visitors arrive.

For this project, our ULTRAMAT system was installed over a recessed matting well incorporating our DURAGRID drainage system. This clever combination helps capture dirt and moisture at the entrance while allowing rainwater to drain away beneath the matting.

Birrus supplied and installed a series of dyed black coir entrance matting systems at the Ascham School Fiona Building.

Made from natural coconut fibre, coir provides a coarse, durable surface that helps brush dirt and debris from footwear at the entrance. The dyed black finish retains that distinctive natural texture while giving the matting a more refined, contemporary appearance suited to modern educational environments.

A heritage entrance deserves a system that respects the architecture around it.

Birrus was pleased to supply and install our ULTRAMAT Entrance Matting System at 343 George Street, Sydney, as part of the latest refurbishment works completed in August 2026.

Constructed between 1921 and 1925 and formerly known as Barrack House, 343 George Street is a significant heritage-listed commercial building overlooking Martin Place. The recent works focused on preserving and renewing the building’s George and Barrack Street façades, including sandstone repairs, window restoration and new façade lighting.

For a building of this calibre, the entrance treatment needs to perform without detracting from the character of the space. ULTRAMAT provides a robust, integrated entrance matting solution suited to the demands of a high-traffic C*D commercial environment.

Birrus ULTRAMAT Entrance Matting has been installed at the Lakeside Visitor Centre at Puffing Billy Railway, in Melbourne’s Dandenong Ranges.

Ahead of the October opening of Sense of Self Surry Hills, Birrus Coir Matting has been incorporated into the new Sydney bathhouse.

A residential entrance sets the tone for everything beyond it.

At Royal Flagstaff in West Melbourne, Birrus ULTRAMAT Creative was used to carry the building’s identity right through to the entrance, with the Royal Flagstaff name incorporated directly into the matting systems.

The result is more than a functional entrance surface. It helps create a considered look and feel from the moment residents and visitors arrive - reinforcing the character of the building as part of the overall interior experience.

With ULTRAMAT Creative, colour, graphics and lettering can become part of the entrance itself, giving architects and designers another opportunity to shape the arrival experience.

We recently worked with Wilderness Building Co on this project, incorporating Birrus Coir entrance matting alongside the warm timber finishes used throughout the build.

Made from natural coconut fibre, coir brings its own texture and character to an entrance - complementing timber rather than competing with it, while providing a practical transition from outside to inside.

A simple material choice that feels completely at home in a building shaped by natural finishes and considered design.
