Pretty in Pink! This week we are celebrating Malus ‘Shotizam’ Showtime™. To pollinate or not to pollinate. To produce fruit successfully, a fruit tree needs the spring flowers to be pollinated - usually by flying insects such as bees, that can spread the pollen between flowers and trees. Many fruits need a different cultivar of the same fruit, that flowers at the same time, growing nearby to pollinate their flowers and allow for fruit to develop. There are also some soft fruits that will produce compatible flowers and pollen and are therefore "self-fertile". To find which trees need a pollination partner - find our pollination guide here:

Pyrus betulifolia 'Southworth' Dancer is a small ornamental pear tree which is under valued in Australia. This is a classically beaitufl tree with a rounded and highly uniform shape, lovely spring flower display and growing to just 7m makes a great option for urban planting, streets, parks and avenues.
