Hi all.
Just an FYI for pool owners that need their compliance certificate by June. Some councils are now fining each home owner individually for not getting their certificate lodged on time (that's a $370ish fine for each person on the title).
If you know it's coming up but have been putting it off get in touch now.

It's almost February and the June 1st compliance deadline is getting closer and closer.

Which Australian Standard applies to your pool or spa? 🤔

The AUSTRALIAN STANDARD is the checklist of requirements that your pool or spa needs to comply with in order to be deemed safe.

In Victoria, there are FIVE separate standards depending on the date of construction of your pool or spa. When having your pool barrier inspected it is important to know which one applies as it can sometimes dramatically change what is required to make your barrier compliant.

Once you register your pool or spa with the council you will receive a letter that will inform you of:
* The DATE OF CONSTRUCTION and
** The Australian Standard (AS for short) that applies to your barrier.

The five standards that may apply are:

Part 9A Div2 (constructed before 8/4/1991)

AS 1926.1-1986 (constructed between 8/4/1991 and 31/10/1994)

AS 1926.1-1993 (constructed between 1/11/1994 and 30/4/2010)

AS 1926.1-2007 (constructed between 1/5/2010 and 30/4/2013)

AS 1926.1-2012 (constructed after 1/5/2013)

All pools and spas in Victoria now must be registered with your local council and be certified safe every 4 years.

If your pool or spa is deemed non-compliant with Australian Standards at the time of inspection, it may result in a fine of around $400 with your local council.
