Before and after - Sorrento side way

At our Sorrento project this side access was particularly challenging due to the steep slope and significant change in levels across the block. We wanted to create a natural coastal design, transitioning from the front of the property through to the backyard.

A series of steps were incorporated to manage the change in levels while minimising the visual impact on the landscape.

The side access would use natural, locally sourced materials that reflect the character of the Mornington Peninsula. With large natural rock boulders strategically placed to define and shape the pathway, creating a gentle in-and-out visual, along with Dromana toppings, timber sleepers and a coastal planting theme, makes for a design which fits perfectly for this project.

Timeless Victorian charm. Completion at our South Yarra project, thoughtfully preserved to compliment the heritage character of the home and its surrounding streetscape.

Bluestone pavers wrap around the house, creating a natural journey from the front garden through to the backyard leading towards the family outdoor entertaining area.

Small textural ground covers bring layers of greenery to soften the hardscape, while a central turf area provides an open, inviting space for family and connection.

Considered planting ties the entire landscape together, creating continuity between the gardens and complimenting the homes classic heritage.

Ligularia Reniformis (tractor seat plant)
This ornamental perennial gets the nickname because of its large, kidney shaped leaves, which resemble the metal seats found on vintage tractors.
Typically, tractor seat is a shade loving plant, thriving in partial to full shade. With its bold and lush foliage, this is the ideal plant for any shaded garden.

Ficus pumila (creeping fig)
A fast growing creeper and ground cover. Softening hard surfaces amongst the landscape as well as bringing structure and texture, this ficus provides a uniform layer of greenery to any landscape.

6 months on from when we planted out our Kew east project.

The ginkgo garden is settling in, with fresh green leaves bringing a sense of life to the space. The Crepe Myrtle forms are filling out, adding structure to the corner of the front yard, along with the glossy, bold foliage of the ligularia reniformis. Altogether they’re beginning to shape a layered, balanced garden.
