Itβs sad to say but scammers are getting smarter and are finding new ways to target unknowing victims, who require locksmith services.
Beware of the scammer who are now creating fraudulent websites using Master locksmithβs identities. Always do your checks to make sure you are engaging a legitimate locksmith.
Here is a warning from the Security Licensing & Enforcement Directorate Take care out there, scammers are everywhere.
Warning: scammers are using legitimate licensed locksmith business names to trick the public.
The scammers use a legitimate businessβs name but link through to their own website and trick customers into engaging scam locksmith services.
A locksmith, possibly unlicensed, will show up to the job, often damaging the lock, and threatening the customer into paying excessive fees.
Warning signs:
1. The business name on your search engine MUST match the website URL
2. Look for a Master licence number on the website BEFORE contacting them
3. Only allow a licensed locksmith to complete your job and ask to see their licence when they turn up.
4. Be wary of anyone demanding cash.
