Mandurah Pest Control is looking for a friendly, organised and reliable Administration & Customer Service person to join our team.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking for a stable, ongoing role with a local business where you can become an important part of the team.

👉 Full-time – Monday to Friday
👉 OR Permanent part-time – 4 days per week

The role includes:
📞 Answering phones & customer enquiries
📧 Managing emails
📅 Booking & coordinating appointments
👷 Supporting our pest technicians
🏠 Liaising with homeowners & property managers
💻 General administration, invoicing & customer follow-up

We're looking for someone with a great attitude, strong organisational skills, excellent communication and a willingness to learn. Previous administration or customer service experience is an advantage, but finding the right person is most important to us.

CHEMICAL DELIGNIFICATION – WHEN TIMBER BREAKS DOWN WITHOUT TERMITES 🪵⚠️

Not all timber damage is caused by termites.

One issue we sometimes encounter during timber pest inspections is chemical delignification — a form of timber deterioration that can occur when chemicals within or around a structure break down the lignin that helps hold timber fibres together.

The result? Timber can gradually lose its strength and become soft, brittle or weakened, even though there may be little obvious evidence of termite activity.

🔎 What can cause it?

Chemical delignification can be associated with exposure to certain chemicals, particularly in areas where timber has been exposed to contaminants, chemicals, moisture or unsuitable building products over an extended period.

🏠 Where might it be found?

It can potentially affect timber around areas such as:

• Bathrooms and wet areas
• Roof spaces
• Subfloors
• Timber in contact with contaminated soil
• Areas affected by leaking or poorly managed chemicals
• Older buildings where timber has been exposed to various treatments or contaminants

⚠️ Why does it matter?

The appearance of the timber can sometimes be misleading. Timber may look relatively normal externally while its internal structure has deteriorated.

If weakened timber is identified, further investigation may be required to determine the cause, extent and structural significance of the deterioration.

A timber pest inspection isn't just about looking for termites. It's about identifying evidence of termite activity, timber decay, conditions conducive to timber pests and other forms of timber deterioration that may affect your property.
