The team was called in to remove Pampas Grass from the lake at Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village Warrnambool to open up the views back to the village. If you've ever dealt with Pampas Grass before, you'll know it's not a plant you want to tackle with bare hands.

Lucky for us, the crew at Matko Hire got us sorted with the perfect little digger for the job. Made all the difference getting in and pulling it out properly.

The team has been putting in the hard yards lately. 💪

On top of their regular week, they've been heading out to the Lona Gas Plant in Port Campbell on weekends to work through a big one. It's been a mammoth job and they've been getting stuck into it without complaint.

Dead trees don't have to be a straight removal job. We can piece it down in full and grind the stump back so you're starting from scratch, or if you'd rather drop the branches before they become a hazard and leave the trunk standing as natural habitat, that works too.
Either way, the dead timber doesn't have to go to waste, we can sort the branches for firewood while we're at it.

If you've got Pine or Cypress trees close to your buildings, this is probably a familiar sight.

Needles are a pain. They find their way into gutters and once they're in there, they're not going anywhere in a hurry. Left long enough, they hold moisture and start to promote rust, which turns a simple gutter clean into a bigger problem down the track.

A bit of maintenance on the trees around your buildings goes a long way. Pulling them back from the roofline keeps the gutters cleaner and saves you the headache later on.

Gum trees are a big part of what makes this part of Victoria special. But with the weather we get down here, limb failure is something we see pretty regularly.

This is a pretty common sight after a storm. A solid branch comes down with no warning, and suddenly you've got a mess on your hands, or worse, damage to a fence, a shed or a roof.

The best thing you can do is get on top of your maintenance before it gets to this point. A bit of weight reduction or a tidy up is a lot easier to deal with than storm cleanup.

Sometimes removing the tree is the only option. But that doesn't mean you have to live with the stump.

Our stump grinder is a bit of a weapon, and it never stops surprising us what it can chew through. But on this job, getting to the stump meant getting a little creative first.
Two ramps, a retaining wall, and a bit of problem solving later, job done.

Down at the Hopkins River this week cleaning up a few storm-fallen Pines.

This one had it all. Chainsaw work, clearing, hauling, and some pretty hard to beat views along the way. The team got stuck in and had it cleaned up safely and efficiently.

Storm damage doesn't always look dramatic from the road, but getting in and clearing it properly makes a big difference, especially near waterways where access can be tricky.
Not a bad spot to spend the day, that's for sure.
