🌿 SPRING PLUMBING GUIDE ... Give Your Home a Plumbing Health Check!
As we head into spring, it’s the perfect time to give your home a freshen-up..and while you’re giving the inside a once-over, don’t forget about your plumbing.
After the cooler winter months, a few simple checks around the home can help uncover hidden leaksand potential plumbing problems.
Your Spring Plumbing Checklist:
💧 Check for hidden water leaks
Keep an eye out for damp patches, unexplained increases in your water bill, musty smells or the sound of running water when everything is turned off.
🚿 Inspect showers and bathrooms
Look for cracked or missing grout, deteriorated silicone, loose tiles or signs of moisture on adjoining walls and floors.
🚽 Check taps & toilets
Dripping taps and toilets that continually run can waste a surprising amount of water.
🌳 Give your drains some attention
Roots, leaves and debris can contribute to drainage problems. If your drains have been slow, gurgling or regularly blocking, it may be worth having them inspected before the summer storm season.
🔥 Check your hot water system
Look for signs of leaking, rust or corrosion around the unit and valves. If something doesn't look right, have it checked by a licensed plumber.
🔩 Inspect flexible hoses
Check the hoses beneath sinks, basins and toilets for rust, fraying, bulging or deterioration. A failed flexi hose can release a significant amount of water very quickly.
🚰 Know where your main water isolation valve is!
Every household should know how to turn off the water supply in an emergency and it's worth checking that the valve actually operates.
A little preventative maintenance now can help protect your home, avoid unexpected plumbing emergencies and give you peace of mind.
