Another great example of how native fungi can be used to take advantage of w**ds to grow food and medicine. 🍄
If your a bush regenerator, gardener or farmer it’s in your best interests to be taking advantage of the biomass that would usually be considered useless.
Here you can see a w**dy tree (Broad leafed privet) chopped down and relocated close to the home so my client can grow mushrooms to pick and eat.
Anyone can do it and just about any tree including the ones you call ‘w**ds’ can be used as a growing medium.
These fungi are primary decomposers in their natural habitat - digesting dead woody material, breaking down the lignin and cellulose and playing a crucial role in recycling nutrients within ecosystems.
We are taking advantage of their ability to turn our w**dy biomass into yields and break it down for the soil so it can be used once again.
Keen to see how many years we will get out of this log stacks !
