Engaging your joiner early makes all the difference.

Across Sydney, we’re seeing increasingly custom homes, with architects and interior designers pushing boundaries and designing spaces that are more creative, layered, and joinery-led. Many of these homes are no longer defined by a single kitchen moment, but by considered joinery throughout.

At Salt House, interior designer Naz spent months shaping the spaces you see here. As the design evolves, joinery becomes integral across multiple zones - as part of the architecture itself. When this happens, time matters. Detailing, coordination, and refinement cannot be rushed if the outcome is to feel this resolved.

For homes where joinery plays a defining role, early collaboration allows ideas to be tested, refined, and executed to the highest standard.

Concealed counters remain one of the most requested features in contemporary kitchens, and for good reason.

When executed correctly, they allow everyday appliances to disappear, preserving clarity across the primary kitchen while keeping functionality close at hand. The inclusion of discreet Zetr power points integrated into the stone ensures practicality without visual interruption.

At Salt House, the concealed coffee bar sits directly off the adjoining breakfast nook, creating a seamless transition from preparation to pause. One step from machine to moment, with the kitchen remaining calm, resolved, and uninterrupted.

A mid-century project with Paloma Studios now joins the VICELLO studio.

Influenced by 60s–70s architecture, shaped by colour, and grounded in meticulous detail, this project brings together two studios with a shared appreciation for craft and considered design. And with inspiration this strong, it’s a joy for our team to lean into creatively.

Over the coming months, our studios will be developing the joinery design in collaboration, from concept ideation and materiality exploration through to final design ready for our makers to build and realise. will be sharing moments from behind the scenes, revealing the design progression as seen from both sides of the studio table.

A special project and a thoughtful alignment - we’re excited to bring you along as it unfolds.

Rosa Cottage has found its way into Home Beautiful Magazine, and it’s a joy to see this project celebrated so thoughtfully in print.
What was once a stark, disconnected kitchen is now a warm, inviting space shaped by Kristy McGregor’s beautifully restrained palette, soft neutral joinery, blush-toned Quaresto marble and gentle brass accents that move with the light.

For VICELLO®, our role was to honour that vision and build it with precision. Early alignment with both designer and builder meant we could protect the design intent at every stage, ensuring each junction detail supported the calm character of the home. A project close to our hearts, beautifully captured by Jacqui Turk.

Bridging the Gap was conceived as a simple idea to spark open conversation between designers and makers and became something more: a room alive with shared experience and genuine curiosity for how design and craft inform one another. Our work has long defined the way a home feels, through joinery, proportion, and craft. This time, the process turns inward. Kalinya is our first full residence, imagined and realised entirely by VICELLO® – exteriors, interiors, and joinery conceived as a singular expression of design and making.

Set against a rural suburban backdrop, the home unfolds through soft materiality, grounded proportions, and spaces that breathe. Every decision reflects the quiet confidence of a studio shaped by making.

Kalinya will be documented in full, from the first sketch to its final reveal – a living reflection of what we value most. Join us as we uncover each chapter of its making.
