At Interflow, our purpose is to improve lives of the people we work with, the communities we serve and the environment we work in for generations to come. To deliver on this purpose, we’ve set ourselves a target to reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040.
Our pathway to net zero includes improving energy efficiency across our operations and embracing renewable energy. We’ve introduced a new Hybrid Power System (HPS) to our fleet, marking an important step toward more sustainably powered work sites.
Traditionally, our sites have relied heavily on diesel generators, and the introduction of the HPS changes that.
By combining battery storage with a solar array, the system allows us to significantly reduce diesel use while still delivering the reliability our teams depend on. It uses stored solar energy to power day-to-day activities, with a small diesel generator acting as backup when needed, ensuring consistent performance in all conditions.
The impact on site is immediate. Lower diesel consumption means fewer refuels, while reduced operating noise creates a quieter environment for our teams and the communities we serve.
What really sets the HPS apart is its ability to respond to real-world conditions. Unlike traditional generators that run at a constant output, the system adjusts to changing energy demands throughout the day. This not only improves efficiency, but also reduces wear and tear on equipment, helping extend the life of our generators.
As we look ahead, it’s small steps like this that bring our net zero goals closer to reality, helping us to build smart and more sustainable ways of working for generations to come.
