Stump grinding along the fence line 🪵

Stumps right up against a fence are the ones people put off, because there's no room to dig and nobody wants to pull the fence apart. This one in Geelong was hard against the palings with a rock border on the other side.

The grinder gets in close, the cutter wheel works down the side of the stump next to the fence, and the whole thing is ground out without a paling touched. Operator stands back on the remote, the chips get raked up, and the corner is clear for the new garden bed.

Yucca removal in Geelong 🌵

Classic spot for a yucca: wedged between the garage wall and the fence, where it was planted as a little pot plant twenty years ago and has been quietly getting bigger ever since. Now it's leaning on the fence, dropping leaves down the side of the house and sending up pups all round the base.

We took the heads off, cut the trunks down in sections and then got the base and the roots out, because a yucca left in the ground just comes straight back. Nothing to burn, nothing to poison, and the side of the house is clear again.

Stump removal on the Surf Coast 🌳

A good example of the jobs we do all the way from Geelong down the coast. This bush block had a couple of old stumps left over from trees that came down years ago, sitting right where the owners wanted to extend the garden.

The grinder tracked in over the rough ground without touching the natives around it, ground both stumps out below the surface, and the crew raked the chips back through so the spot is ready to plant. The gum behind it wasn't touched, that one stays.

We don't just take off the top of a stump. We remove the whole thing so it's out of the way for good.

Palm removal in Geelong 🌴

This giant bird of paradise had taken over the whole back corner of a Geelong yard, along with the cordyline next to it. Too tall, too much dead frond hanging off the trunks, and the roots were heading for the fence and the water tank.

We cut it down section by section from the ground, chipped the lot and then dealt with the base so the owners got a clear corner back, not a stump they'd be looking at for years.

Palms, bird of paradise, yuccas, cordylines: if it's outgrown its spot we take the whole thing out, base included.

Yucca removal, done in one go 🌵

Yuccas are the plant people regret. They start as a nice feature by the driveway and ten years later they're taller than the garage, dropping spiky leaves everywhere and pushing roots under the paving.

This one in Torquay came out whole. The grapple on the loader lifted the trunk straight off the base, the root ball came out after it, and it all went on the truck. No digging by hand, no mess left on the driveway, and nothing left in the ground to shoot back up.

Stump grinding in Geelong 🪵
