A smart little outdoor transformation completed in Geelong West ✨

After the neighbour’s new renovation/extension left an awkward gap beside the existing deck, we seamlessly extended the space using 140x19 Specrite Merbau, matching the original screw lines with new cantilevered joists and side blocking for a flawless finish. Finished off with a mitred picture-frame border and fresh plinth boards.

To complete the space, we built and installed 22m of Matrix (Tropical) decorative fence topper screens, creating instant privacy and giving the garden and pool area a much more secluded, resort-style feel 🌿👌

A practical upgrade that made a huge difference to this stunning little home.

Another awesome transformation I had the pleasure of completing 🙌

This cathedral ceiling has well and truly been brought back to life with 100mm VJ panelling, all glued and screwed through the existing plaster into the metal furring channel battens for a solid, long-lasting finish.

4 brand new 100mm downlights and a big beautiful 3-blade timber ceiling fan were also installed, adding both function and style to the space.

To allow for the fan installation, sections of the roof sheeting were removed to gain access, and structural noggins installed to ensure it had a solid fixing point — no shortcuts.

I then custom made an Oregon timber mounting block to sit perfectly up in the apex. Even better, this was crafted from an old Oregon roof beam, giving it a bit of character and history.

The ceiling has now been painted crisp white (a massive change from the old black ceiling), warm grey walls to brighten and open up the entire living space. We also installed brand new skirting throughout the main living areas to complete the look.

✨Front Entrance Rebuild✨

This one was a great transformation - taking a dark, tired entry and turning it into a bright, coastal welcome to the home.

We stripped out the old weathered jarrah decking, framing and hardwood cladding, then rebuilt properly with H3 treated pine. Joists were reworked to change the direction and blocked out for perimeter boards.. supported with new galvanised joist hangers. Full DPC protection was added over all joists and exposed edges to ensure long-term durability.

The new deck features 135mm Stringybark (Silver Top Ash), all pre-oiled with for a quality finish that’ll stand the test of time. Supplied by Fixed down with stainless screws for a clean look.

To finish it off, the legend Luke installed natural sandstone to the piers, tying everything together with that fresh coastal feel.

Really happy with how this one turned out - and even better, the client loves it. Built to last.

Another happy client in Mt Duneed 🙌

We transformed unused ceiling space into a fully functional storage area, installing a lockable attic ladder and creating 18sqm of easily accessible storage.

To make the most of every bit of material, I used leftover offcuts to build a few bonus extras - all free of charge:
✔️ A reinforced shelf ready for a small safe to be bolted down
✔️ An additional large storage shelf
✔️ A custom cradle-style rack for camping gear, swags & sleeping bags

A simple solution that’s completely solved their storage issues overnight.

A front entrance can completely change the feel of a home. 🚪✨

We recently installed this beautiful 1200mm Linear front door in Jan Juc on the Surfcoast with a custom jamb and sidelight from , finished with a 600mm Lockwood stainless entrance grab handle, deadlock and concealed magnetic catch.

The job included full removal of the old weathered door and jamb, cladding repairs, proper DPC flashing around the jamb and under the sill, plus a Colorbond head flashing to ensure long-term weather protection and durability.

Other jobs included - rear garage solid door with new hinges, caulking, cladding and window repairs.

Clean. Modern. Built properly…
and most importantly - very happy clients!

Hallway transformation complete 👌

This project featured 900mm high VJ panelling, finished with a 50mm pine dado rail for a clean, classic look. We painted the VJ, skirting, architraves and dado rail in Dulux Wash’n’Wear Semi Gloss White for durability and a crisp finish.

The upper plaster walls were coated in Dulux “¼ Strength Pale Grey”, chosen to keep the space feeling warm, light and inviting without losing that modern edge.

Proof that sometimes I’m not just a builder/carpenter… I can actually paint too 😅🎨

From empty warehouse to a purpose-built HQ in Torquay!

This project for Wildboar Bike Racks was all about creating a space that works just as hard as they do - blending function, flow and a bit of wow-factor.

We framed the entire office, workshop and showroom structure from scratch:
✔️ Walls, ceiling joists, doorways, window openings and bulkheads
✔️ Layout designed for efficiency and future growth

Then came the details that really lift it:
Large Black aluminium windows for that clean industrial edge
A feature rough sawn Cypress cladded wall on the lower stepped section to bring warmth and texture into the space

Big shout-out to the legends who helped bring it together:

A clean, modern outdoor upgrade for some wonderful clients here in Torquay 🙌

This free-standing aluminium louvre pergola was supplied by the local team at Unique Pergolas Geelong and fully assembled on site by SCHOBUILD. The structure is securely dyna-bolted down to four mass concrete pad footings, all of which were dug and poured by myself to ensure long-term strength and stability.

The pergola features manually adjustable louvers, allowing the clients to control sunlight, airflow and protection from the elements. It also includes a concealed gutter and downpipe system for effective drainage, keeping the space clean and functional year-round. To finish it off, I installed a retractable screen that can be locked into any position - perfect for privacy, wind protection and shade when needed.

As a carpenter/builder, I normally work predominantly with timber, however I was genuinely impressed by the quality, engineering and finish of this aluminium system. With a wide range of colour options and a sleek, low-maintenance design, it’s an excellent alternative for those wanting a high-end covered outdoor area. Being free-standing and built within legal boundary setbacks, projects like this can often be completed without the need for a building permit (site dependent).
