✨Bringing in the New Year with a remedial prune on a Corymbia bella!

🍃The structure of a main limb overhanging the house had been compromised due to a process called 'ringbarking'.

🍃The bark had been stripped around the base of the trunk, removing vascular tissues necessary for nutrient transport.

🍃Causes of ringbarking include:

- Rodents and animals (Cockatoos)
- Insect and Fungus attacks
- Ropes, string, etc. choking the trunk

⚠️Rotten tree alert!

🍃This Madagascan Bottle tree (Moringa Drouhardii) had excessive rot throughout its trunk, compromising its structure.

So how did we safely dismantle the tree?

🍃Each branch was rigged to avoid impact to the shed and fence.
🍃The trunk was felled using wedges and a rigging rope on a 3:1 system, providing us with a mechanical advantage. 💪

If you have any concerns about a tree on your property, reach out for help from your local Arborists. 💚

🍃When this dead Rain tree took a tumble, it got caught up on a branch and was left hanging precariously overtop a clothesline and uncomfortably close to the laundry room! 🤯

☠🌳Dead trees have impaired root stability and weaker structural integrity than live trees and can fall without warning. ⚠

Signs a tree MAY be dead or dying include.... 🧐👇

1) If the canopy has no leaves or buds in season
2) Branches appear dry and rigid
3) Bark has detached from the trunk, or the tree has no bark
4) The main trunk is hollow or shows signs of decay

If you have any concerns about your tree, contact Canopy Couple on 0439 034 054 or through Facebook 💚.

Celebrating National Tree Day! 🎉🌏🌳🎉

Trees are a vertical ecosystem, supporting life from their crown to their deepest roots. Trees provide a safe haven for countless species to thrive🐦🐍🍄🐛

By planting and protecting trees, we support biodiversity and the ecosystem.

🌡❄️Trees provide shelter and shade. Water evaporates from the tree's canopy, cooling down the surrounding air.

♻️Tree's capture carbon through photosynthesis and prevent soil erosion through their complex root systems and foliage.

Celebrate National Tree Day with us by planting a tree today 💚🫶

🌳Check out how trees respond to incorrect pruning practices 🫣

The branches pictured below were cut back at random. The result?
⬇

1) The Yellow flame could not "seal" (compartmentalize) it's wounds.
2) Decay spread
3) The branches and twigs that were cut died back ☠

🌳Canopy Couple focused on dead-wooding and correcting cuts, providing a better outcome for the tree. The carpark underneath is now more user friendly!

If you would like to learn more about pruning cuts, we have an old post that covers the basics 💚
