What's under the tiles matters just as much as what's on top of them.

This is a current Sawtell Bathrooms project mid-build. The walls are villaboard sheeting — a cement-based wet area sheet that won't swell or deteriorate behind the tiles. The floor is Scyon sheeting, replacing the original particle board subfloor that had no business being under a bathroom.
Particle board and moisture don't mix. It's one of the most common things we find when we strip a bathroom back — and one of the most common reasons a bathroom fails years down the track.
We fix it properly before anything else goes in. Every time.
This is what a full renovation actually includes. Not just new tiles and a fresh vanity — a bathroom that's been rebuilt correctly from the substrate up.

This is what "full renovation" actually means.

We stripped this bathroom back to the bare bones — floor joists exposed, walls gone, plumbing relocated. Nothing hidden behind a fresh coat of paint. Everything done properly, from the ground up.
The result: terrazzo-look large format tile, a freestanding bath with wall-mount tapware, floating dark timber vanity with backlit mirror cabinet, vessel basin, and warm accent lighting that makes the whole space glow at night.
Same four walls. Completely different home.

A master ensuite rebuilt from the ground up — the kind of space you actually look forward to walking into every morning.
Semi-Frameless shower screen with a combo rail shower, full-height stone-look tile throughout, recessed niche, floating white vanity with integrated basin, and brushed nickel tapware that ties it all together without fuss.
The tile choice here does a lot of heavy lifting — that warm grey tone works with the white joinery and natural light from the window without trying too hard. Timeless without being boring.

Mid-build, Moonee Beach.

Floor tiles down, wall tiles going up — those red and blue clips are a tile levelling system, which is how you get perfectly flat, perfectly aligned grout lines every single time. No lippage, no guesswork.
The ceiling's been patched and prepped, floor waste is in, and you can already see the scale of the space taking shape. What looks like organised chaos right now will be unrecognisable in a few weeks.
