Chemical Grout Injection for Foundation Underpinning
The utilisation of chemical grout injection offers a practical solution for underpinning foundations, thereby enabling the installation of various structures in constrained spaces. This report discusses the application of chemical grout injection to facilitate the installation of a concrete pool within a small courtyard area
The project involved injecting chemical grout into the foundation of a small courtyard to underpin the structure, allowing for the subsequent installation of a concrete pool. The injection was performed on three sides of the courtyard, reaching a depth of 2.1 meters to accommodate a pool with a depth of 1.6 meters.
Chemical grout injection was employed to stabilise and strengthen the foundation of the courtyard. The injection process involved drilling boreholes along the perimeter of the courtyard and injecting specialised grout material into the soil. This process effectively created a stable grout block beneath the foundation, ensuring sufficient support for the forthcoming pool installation.
Following the chemical grout injection, a curing period of seven days was observed to allow for the grout to fully set and stabilise. During this time, the grout formed a solid block beneath the foundation, providing a robust base for the subsequent excavation and construction of the concrete pool.

Chemical grout injection has proven to be a highly effective method for underpinning foundations in constrained spaces, such as small courtyards. By stabilising the soil and enhancing the load-bearing capacity of the foundation, this technique enables the installation of structures such as concrete pools without compromising structural integrity. The successful completion of this project demonstrates the feasibility and benefits of utilizing chemical grout injection for property enhancement endeavors.
Based on the outcomes of this project, it is recommended to consider chemical grout injection as a viable option for similar construction projects in confined spaces. Additionally, proper planning and coordination with experienced professionals are essential to ensure the successful implementation of this technique and the subsequent installation of structures within such environments.
