Ben The Painter Ben The Painter I started painting in December 1991 at the age of 16.

Six years into painting I enrolled into TAFE to do the Certificate 111 Trade Course in Painting and Decorating which I attended evenings, and finished at Credit level. My goal was to always become a qualified Painter and end up running my own small Painting and Decorating business, where I would quote and carry out the work myself, guaranteeing the finished result was at the highest quality. With 30 years experience in the trade that I love, I am proud of my work and my business which carries my name, Benjamin J Thomson Painter and Decorator – but everyone calls me Ben The Painter

I just finished a job for a nice couple. The client asked if I could paint the 70s-80s style tiles to blend in with the newly renovated area, including the new flooring.

I said, “Yep, no problem! I can paint them.” However, I then thought I would ask if I could use this opportunity to do a little practice project at no charge, and they said sure.

I used some leftover product I had from called Vertigo.

The main brief, as a newbie, was to create a look that closely resembled the existing sections on the stairs. Plus, Aronne was able to tint his product to Dulux Natural White to match, which was amazing.

I’m very happy my client gave me the opportunity to carry out this little project; I think it turned out really well. In doing so, it has rekindled my passion, and I want to start practicing this work more.
