The 38(t) cut away is done. She's a little rough around the edges but for an experimental Im very happy with how it came out.
I kept the outside like a black and white photo but the interior is all colour. I decide to brush paint the entire peice (minus primer & testing lighting) to see what I could learn from the challenge. I dont think Ive ever felt so close to a model before so I think from here on our on going to only use my brush. I have another forced perspective/projected cutaway idea lined up but I dont think Ill get to that until next year.
If your not sure what's going on here, what I did was cutaway the model in a way that the viewing angle is a frame that exposes the interor. I did this by scanning the model into blender and digitally cutting away the hull with a rectangular prism. When I was happy with the angle, I 3d printed the prism I used (boolean the hull from the prism) and used that as a stencil to carve/cutaway the hull.
