The 38(t) cut away is done. She's a little rough around the edges but for an experimental Im very happy with how it came out.

I kept the outside like a black and white photo but the interior is all colour. I decide to brush paint the entire peice (minus primer & testing lighting) to see what I could learn from the challenge. I dont think Ive ever felt so close to a model before so I think from here on our on going to only use my brush. I have another forced perspective/projected cutaway idea lined up but I dont think Ill get to that until next year.

If your not sure what's going on here, what I did was cutaway the model in a way that the viewing angle is a frame that exposes the interor. I did this by scanning the model into blender and digitally cutting away the hull with a rectangular prism. When I was happy with the angle, I 3d printed the prism I used (boolean the hull from the prism) and used that as a stencil to carve/cutaway the hull.

WIP on my 1/16 38(t) crew. Still a ways to go, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Here's a proof of concept from a new style of prop im working one.
I was going to wait for a more polished result but it things are getting a little more complicated, so it could be another week or so away.

This is a static animated prop using a lenticular len... yep just like the collectable ones from chip packets and card sets.

the way it works is ive made an interlaced/weaved image consisting of 6 images of a rortalong prop. The lens bends the light and give you eye a look at one of the frames so when either the lens or you're viewing position changes the image changes and makes it look like its moving.

When I get this more refined ill make a video of the entire process and share the code i used to make the lenticular images.
